Now that I've lured you with the clickbait title, prepare to be underwhelmed.

I was reading about Roger Dean's inspiration for the cover of Tales from Topographic Oceans, since I used the TFTO cover in the Cover Chain Games. I learned that all the rock formations on the cover exist in real life.

But what struck me as remarkable is the solitary comment at the end of the interview, which had a link to the following picture:

See it? The rock formation on the right side of TFTO's cover matches the rock formation on the left side of Relayer's back cover.

Wow, that sort of reminds me of how the cover of Nursery Cryme is in the background on the back of the Foxtrot album.

I never noticed that before with Yes but I doubt it's an accident. It's like two worlds being connected.

Another similar allusion is the gryphon from Gryphon's eponymous debut album showing up in the background of Red Queen to Gryphon Three.

I agree. I think the stones line up too closely for it to be a coincidence.

Other example of references between Yes albums include: Steve Howe quoting Close to the Edge in TFTO's Ritual, Relayer's title is a reference to TFTO's The Remembering, Jon Anderson basing the concept of his solo album Olias of Sunhillow on Roger Dean's cover art of a planet breaking up for Fragile.

hah...  man I've done many things in my life. Seen and done great things.. very bad things... but that is one on my bucket list sadly I'll likely never get.

"I remember Jon and I spent a long time talking about ideas for the sleeve when we were flying from London to Tokyo via Alaska, and we were just inspired when looking at the patterns in the landscapes below.”

stuck in a airplane seat next to Jon Anderson for 12 hours talking about... whatever was going through Jon's mind at the moment?

Priceless.... LOL

If you asked Roger about it his response would probably be something like "you never know."

If you are referring to what I said all I can say is I doubt he would give away "trade secrets." It's part of the mystique. Do you think magicians will tell you how they do their magic tricks if you ask them too?

This is simply because Roger Dean copied the rock formations from a series of picture postcards. There's no magic or hidden meaning here, and it's certainly no secret since he admitted in his book Views.
What?

Spinal Tap's Smell the Glove and Prince's Black Album also line up perfectly.  It's uncanny.

Coincidence?... I don't think so ( in fact I don't believe in coincidences ), specially in terms of prog rock , where ... imagination and thoughts are  very important !!!
