A selection, dear reader, from twenty-ish years ago (compare and contrast the Big Six poll)...

Ain't that the truth.  Twenty years ago I went to the Tribal Gathering festival and my friend and I started to feel like we had stumbled into a different age...

Tortoise and Squarepusher both very worthy of consideration...I tried to make the poll compact and so ended on the cutting room floor...

I think Camel "Harbour of Tears" is a fantastic album and tragically underrated.

Harbour of tears an album I think it's often overlooked and unappreciated.

I like In Sides and Curious Corn, but neither album are the respective band's best material.

Is there a connection between these artists??

I've not heard Art Zoid, but from the list I like the Orbital album and the Ozrics album. The others don't do much for me.

There was a lot of good music in the 90's, not much of it was prog rock. It was mostly electronic and indie.
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

I agree.

Orbital second album is their best IMO (The 'brown' album)

Erpland or Strangitude are probably the Ozrics best, although I do like Jurassic Shift a lot too.

So much good music around in the 90's.

Fripp and Sylvian - The Next Day, Damage Live and the Darshan (mini?) album. Nearly big six in all but name but ... it's not. So. There.
Magma. Theusz Hamtaak.
Tortoise. Particularly live Tortoise.
Univers Zero and the RIO scene.
Porcupine Tree. Eventually.
Page and Plant - Unledded. Those two orchestras...
Rush - Counterparts.

Dig me...But don't...Bury me
I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive
Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect.
