Conclusion: prog bands don't like putting the name of a month in their song titles...

I know only one of these, so no vote. But I have my doubts about the attitude of prog bands towards month names. To mention a few:
February February MMX - Ulver March Song of the Marching Children - Earth & Fire March of the Mushroom Men - Oblivion Sun June June - Spock's Beard Moon in June - Soft Machine August August in the Urals - Deluge Grander September September IV - Ulver November Late November - Pavlov's Dog ... and then I found this one .

Thanks - I knew about the Junes but didn't like the Spock's Beard one and wanted to make room for Wyatt's solo version. Poll now closed thanks to Anthony Phillips! (I should have known)

The Trombone in "September The 9th" gets me every time, so voted for that.

I only heard the Deep Purple song a long time ago. The best monthly song I know is PFM's "Impressioni di Settembre".

Is Anthony Philips' output any good after he left Genesis? For some reason, I never checked his solo work out. Maybe I was too fixated on Steve Hackett's!

Ant Phillips solo work is excellent, start with 'The Geese and the Ghost'...his stagefright continued so he has never performed live and that is why his profile is lower...more acoustic than Hackett

Game over! The Deluge Grander one is definitely great, too.
Agreed!
If you love the softer, acoustic side of Genesis, then Anthony Phillips' solo work, especially The Geese and The Ghost, is a must-hear. Now, back to the poll: of the ones included, I really love April and July Morning, but I haven't heard any of the others so I won't vote.

The only one I've heard was Tull, so they get the vote.

I own his first three albums. His solo debut, The Geese and the Ghost, is widely acclaimed and it has its moments, but Wise after the Event is my favourite: an album I have played now and then during the last 38 years. Sides is, as the title says, an album with two sides: side 1 is mediocre with only one good track, side 2 is way better.

If it wasn't in Italian and hard to translate I'd suggest Francesco Guccini - La Canzone dei Dodici Mesi (the twelve months's song). Not prog, but who likes RPI may find him interesting.
