Clap Paul Sears is not only a great drummer who deserves way more love than he gets - he is also a dear friend to us, even if we don't see him as often as we would like to now that he lives in Arizona. He is now working full-time as a musician, and has contributed to a lot of very interesting projects (including Karda Estra's most recent albums). As to Daniel Denis.... Well, I remember not being able to take my eyes off him when we saw Univers Zero at the French Embassy in DC in 2010. He was simply mesmerizing - without any need for gimmicks or mega-huge drum kits.

I dont know if he is 'super-forgotten' in Argentina, but oscar moro, who was the drummer of la maquina de hacer pajaros (charly garcia), was one hell of a drummer.

I've met Paul a few times. I knew his partner(wife?)Debbie even better though since we both volunteered at Progday at the same time. I agree Paul is a great drummer.

Speaking of drummers named Paul I'd also like to mention Paul Ramsey from Echolyn.

I'm not sure. You might very well have heard of me(or know of me). I no longer attend though. I was on the promotions team in 2006-08 and a  volunteer in general during then also. In 2007 I was the van driver and introduced one of the bands on stage. In 2008 I also introduced one of the bands onstage but was in a bad car accident that year just a few miles away from the hotel(I still attended though obviously). That was the last year I went. I may finally go again this year but I don't know yet. We probably know a lot of the same people. There are a few people I know from PD who also go to Rosfest(a lot of the same "usual suspects"). The years I attended PD(as either fan or volunteer) were 2002 and then 2005-2008.

Raff is another member on here? You have probably run into people from some of the other sites such as progressive ears and aural moon and maybe some others. I know each site has their own little group of people who go. I actually initially went by myself but eventually found others to hang out with. Volunteering helped too. If I do go again I'll probably volunteer again(or at least once more). Unfortunately I no longer drink beer. I remember back then I did and I hung out with Echolyn for a few beers. Good times.

Rosfest is my main festival these days though especially since I live in PA and it's the closest one to me. There's going to be another festival later in the year called Progstock(if they can reach their financial goals)but I probably won't go to that. I will be at Rosfest this year though. It will be my third time seeing Anglagard. :)

Speaking of Anglagard(and getting back on topic) I would say Mattias Olson is a very under rated drummer. He just kills.

yeah Raff is my wife and is 'Raff' to all prog sites and prog bands....she is the more social and simply nicer and sweeter of the two of us plus due to her reviews all the bands know her and love her to death hahah.

Anyhow  She has been around PE's but didn't really dig the vibe of the site. This place has always been more a home, not to mention more diverse in tastes and membership.

Rosfest really isn't to our tastes musically...we went one year and ending up spending much of the time at the English pub  and Progday is more like Nearfest was minus the bullsh*t and ego trips and is all about diveristy and finding new bands from retro to wacky stuff... plus is so much more than just music.. it is bit of Woodstorck minus the bad dope out of tune bands and much of a extended family reunion.

and back on topic..  yeah Mattias rules

I went to about half of the Nearfests plus many of the pre shows(even the years I didn't go to the festival proper). Rosfest has diversified a bit over the last few years actually but over all I would agree it's a bit more narrower in it's focus than PD or NF. My tastes actually run more towards the bands at RF but even I have to admit there has been a few turkeys who have played there(not many recently fortunately though). I find I can criticize anything if I want to(for example some neo bands try to sound too much like Marillion and early Genesis and some avant stuff tries too hard to be different)but mainly I just want to enjoy the music. I am glad there is more variety happening at Rosfest lately. It wasn't initially like that but then they had Lazuli and then Moetar, Asturias, Bent Knee and now Anglagard. This year they even have a post rock band. You have to admit they are making an effort to branch out a bit. It will probably never be like NF or PD but it's not really trying to be either. As they say you can't please everyone.
