Is there some behind the scenes threat going on in the internet security world?
I have been captcha'ed on other sites recently, one was for an online payment today, which I have done numerous other times without the captcha.

^ This is the only site that hits me with the captcha, unless I am trying to buy tickets from Ticketmaster........I prolly visit a dozen different music sites on a regular weekly basis and not one of them asks me to identify street signs.

if there's one (1) good thing about this, it is that it encourages the use of ascii emoticons ^___^ ;D

Edit: it happened again with this post Edited by Sean Trane - April 21 2017 at 01:05 |

It is apparently random. I'm wondering if those using a particular browser get them more often. |

Using Firefox at home and IE at work (imposed) Yup, it's rather random , but not systematic as it was for the last two weeks... gives you some kind of relief, anyways |

It's been random for me, I've had a couple of posts captcha'd this week. What annoys me is the pictures - I had one the other day - click on the photos containing shopfronts(!) - but I can't see the pictures clearly enough to make out if it's a shopfront or not.
* edit * And naturally I got the shopfronts again when I posted this - at least I got it right this time. Edited by chopper - April 21 2017 at 05:54 |

I've had worse... I click on one of the squares and the picture changed Or I've had multi-stage events. |

Clicking on the squares isn't the problem for me, its the fu*king "access denied screen" that I get which tosses my well considered and carefully misstyped post into the crapper whenever I successfully pass whatever inane test teh captcha sets me. And that is Max's fault. I'm beginning to dislike him quite a lot at the moment.

I am a very patient guy. Hell, I could watch ice melt.
But, my patience are coming to an end because of this robot crap. Since I post a lot of images I get hit every time. This thread is on page seven so the people who run this site have to be aware of how members feel about this situation. They either cannot or will not do anything about it. Maybe it's a part of a recent upgrade and they can't do anything about. I don't know and I don't care anymore. Have the people in charge ever posted any kind of explanation or even acknowledged that they are aware of how people feel about this? Since I joined this forum I've never been interested in going anywhere else but in the last week I have been spending time on another music site. If things don't change I'll be spending more time there and less time here and that's not what I want. You know, if I wanted to be frustrated all the time I would start posting on the political thread. BTW, the home page shows that there are over thirty search robots here right now so what's the difference?

The difference is that search robots are not logged in to the forum, so they cannot post, so they never find a CrAPTCHA.

I say the friggin' robots are winning because only THEY can put up with this nonsense.
All of a sudden i'm getting the robot thing for every little thing and then when it comes up with some grid system of picking buses or street signs or whatever it often doesn't give the option to VERIFY and only has SKIP as an option! #@&%$#%^&&**!!!!!!

I'm getting captcha'ed every single time I post, whenever I try to preview a post... just constant captchas.
I keep being told that I can fix it by seeing if I have any malware... I did an in-depth scan with Malware Bytes yesterday, and nothing was found. I use Chrome, Version 58.0.3029.81 (64-bit), and I have a few extensions, including Adblock Plus, Tampermonkey (with a lot of stuff loaded onto it... 22 active here, for some reason), uBlock Origin (for those sites that block people who use Adblocker), an extension that turns all instances of the word "cuck" to the phrase "scary ghost", LastPass (an awesome password manager), Pushbullet, Disable HTML5 Autoplay, Flashcontrol, and RSS Feedreader. Posting is extremely annoying, but I just joined and I really love this site, so... I'll deal with it, but I want it gone, too... so I'll likely complain about it a lot...
