This is not what hip-hop is about, but anyway there you go:

a) sci-fi/highbrow concept? Check

b) long tracks? Check

c) clever instrumentation? Check

d) irregular time sigs? Check (in the chorus)

So here we are, hip-hop can prog sometimes

I like it, but I still prefer the original that it samples ("Introit" off of William Sheller's Lux Aeterna, which has long been one of my favourite albums).

Just a fanboy passin' through.

One of the new Kendrick Lamar songs feature U2 and it's surprisingly good (I hate U2 but like Kendrick)
Classical music isn't dead, it's more alive than it's ever been. It's just not on MTV.

The BBC are certainly never going to laud middle class white men over a single violent black man. I mean being white and male is like original sin to the BBC, you have to be ashamed to have been born with such privilege!

If I were to ask someone what rock music sounded like and this person pointed me in the direction of Tupac Shakur and said "this is rock" is this person right or wrong?

Nothing surprising, the media will focus on what will give it attention. Sure, putting "Yes" on the title will get prog fans clicking on the article, but that might be 1-5% of their entire consumers, whereas "Tupac" might go much above 20%.

That's why niche-specific news reporting is important and popular. Because mainstream media will cover mainstream events mostly.
