About 3 years ago i brought kansas (a song for america) yesterday i listened for the 2nd time the opener down the road a bluesy number of an okay song next song for america a classical symphonic masterpiece great arrangement .Lamplight symphony an eerie song about ghosts a sabbath like song .Lonely street a dark bluesy song with some scary imagery .The devil game spotlights kerry,s lighting chops but the crowning glory has got to be incommudro - the hymn to the altman is all kansas blowout the highlight is phil ehart.s drum solo the record which was way to pricey when i was 17 but purchased when i was 50 was well worth the wait. Star

Love the first six (or seven) Kansas records. Song For America is a beast.

I am just now getting around to listening to Song For America. It's an interesting album. I'm drawn more to the longer songs. I love Song For America. Lamplight kinda suffers by being too slow for me. Incomudro starts that way but then ramps up towards the end, which is nice. The shorter songs are pretty rockin', although less interesting.
I still prefer their first album to this one but it's a good disc

Song From America should be in every progger's collection! (And a few other Kansas albums, too!)

Kansas was my first concert and first prog rock concert back in 1978 when I think they were at their prime. I highly recommend the remaster version of the live album, Two For The Show, if you are a Kansas newbie.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...
