The song is probably newer than the documentary itself, it seems to have been overdubbed recently.

Any clue on whom it might be would be much welcome.

Just read the comments. In the video description it says it has been edited from more than one source. If you could find the original program with that part in it, there might be 'credits' at the end which may list the song title and artist.

It's good stuff, but I'm more interested in how Luis stumbled upon it in such an obscure video!
Videos on the Mandelbrot Set are not in my book of leisurely entertainment.

It reminds me of Eloy's style in the late 70s (Ocean-Silent Cries) but definitely it's not them. I've sent an email to the authors of the video, if they reply I'll let you know

Good luck. I'm still trying to figure out the name of the airforce or airplane video with Rick Wakeman's music in it. 

Anyway, I have no idea about the music here. Astra maybe?

This is most probably a clip from the Fractals Documentary by Arthur C. Clarke and if so, David Gimour made the music.

For much of a space rock fan I am, I can not come to like their music. Good tip in any case, I went listening their records again and it is not them.

This song sounds awfully familiar, but at the same apart from all the modern space bands I know.

Indeed, in the original documentary the soundtrack was by Glimour (and some Floyd). But in the video I linked above that segment of the documentary was overdubbed with a song that is considerably newer (you can even hear the ending of Gilmour's sond when the overdub fades off).
