It's the battle of the reddish squamate reptiles.
Think I know which one will come out on top in this colourful and rather majestic Lizard fight. Personally I much prefer a stately strong red inclining to purple (crimson) lizard over a light purplish red (magenta) lizard. For those that haven't heard both: King Crimson's "Lizard" suite: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x31wo23 Magenta's not as sweet imo, nor so suite, The Lizard King: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_cPXwYWAY4 The angry emoticon to go with the topic was merely chosen for its reddish hue, by the way. |

I figured that Crimson's would be king of this Lizard battle royale, but Hercules is still to vote. ;)

The King's lizard is way better than the lizard king

Magenta is the lamest imitation of prog rock ever made. So called "Lizard King" is example of terrible cheesiness and mediocrity regarding both performance and composition, lacking any imagination or inspiration. On the other hand "Lizard" from King Crimson is one of the major music achievements ever made. Good juxtaposition...

As much as I love Crimso, I'm going with Magenta. I love The Lizard King (not the Morrison one as much... ), and The 27 Club is outstanding. PLUS, Christina sings (and looks) better than Haskell !!

Bit of a zany poll there Greg
I voted for Crimson after having listened to the Magenta track. I liked bits and pieces off it but ultimately felt it sounded a bit too plasticky for my tastes. Not a fan of the vocals either. |

"Lizard Play" could have been worked in as this is a play on words that included the word lizard. The title could be something like "Reddy? The King Lizard Play on words", but that's clunky and lacks symmetry.
Incidentally, I kicked myself later for not choosing "Which lizard is king?" as my poll question. This poll is quite zany, but I came across this Magenta song quite by accident, and immediately the King Crimson's Lizard similarities word-wise betwixt the song title and band names piqued my interest. |

That would be a stretch, I think.
Ideally to fit my theme, the song and band should contain the words lizard, king and a shade of red, and the more symmetry the better. Examples would include: Burgundy's "King Lizard" and Scarlet King's "Lizard", but they aren't on youtube as I just composed them. Also acceptable would be a band name that includes the word lizard provided that one of the song titles includes a shade of red and the word King. For example, Lizard's "Ruby King". I guess synonyms could work such as Queen's "Blood Gecko". Guess I'd have to move it from Prog polls then, though. ;) Seriously, all is fine by me, even the Flying Lizard's' "Don't Give a Flying F***". |
