I like Kansas more than any other group but Rush is also in my top 10 or 20. I like Carry on but I'm sick of hearing it a million times on the radio. Sure it's better than closer to the heart, but thousands of songs are better than CTTH. Talk about the prog songs of both groups because I'm sick of just hearing Tom Sawyer, Freewill, and The Spirit of Radio, plus kansas like Carry Wayward Son, Point of know Return, and Dust in the Wind. Let's get more to the popular prog sides of both groups. Of course KANSAS is better than Rush, even in the 70's, but not by a whole lot!!

Uh no. They are not

LOL
fanboy much?

Lol. They actually have the better albums in my opinion. Kansas cannot compete with Kings and Hemispheres. Everyone has their own way of looking at things though. Lmaoo

see I disagree, the string of albums Kansas did from 1974 to 1978 can compete with any Rush album of the same time. Both bands did great music in that period.

I disagree but different strokes for different folks.

what are you disagreeing with here? Or are you just disagreeing for the sake of it? LOL
Is it the fact that I think that Kansas were as good as Rush in the 70s? Is it that I think both bands did a great job in the 70s? What is it?

What am I arguing? Look at the thread but then again everyone has their own way of viewing music.

I've got lot of great memories of Closer to the Heart, and it was great to hear my favourite band of the late 70s getting air play on mainstream radio with it, and singing along with it live on numerous occasions - but against one of Kansas's best tracks, despite the over-playing on classic rock stations - Carry On Wayward Son gets my vote here.

Wayward Son, and that's saying something as I really loath Kansas.

This time it´s Kansas. Closer is my least favourite Rush song from the seventies (rather listen their first album, but anyway don´t skip Closer when listening A Farewell).

Closer to the heart, especially because of the version from Exit...Stage Left  which is so intense, emotional. Kansas are great too, but Rush (in this case) have greater impact on me.

I don't get the feeling it's loathed from the Rush DVDs I've seen, it appears quite popular.

This is arguably Kansas' best tune, not so much with Rush.

Carry on my wayward son..

Never understood the adoration of Closer to the Heart. It's ok I guess...nothing special, although I prefer Rush overall.
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!
