Yes, it's so strange I'll have you say it and merely agree.

No contest against one of the most loathsome songs Rush ever produced...

Closer to The Heart was so loathed it was once sung by a tube carriage load of Rush fans after a gig. You've never seen poor old general public looking so non-plussed. What is this song? Is it on the radio?
Actually I had no idea it was loathed.
Is this something we are supposed to "get" by pop cultural osmosis or something?

^^ You "get" the loathing simply by listening to and recognising individuals who consider it to be loathsome.
Both songs are still staples of classic rock radio here, as is "Cat Scratch Fever", so many people must like the songs, but I don't much like either song. I think it's a tie for me.

A friend of mine - a former massive Rush fan - sold off his records due to that song...

I'm not a huge Rush fan, but I'll take "Closer to the Heart" any day over the overplayed, overrated, cliche-ridden cheesy "Carry On." And I like a lot of Kansas. (Debut/Masques/Song For America).

You would make Molson's proud. ---------------------------- I've never been nationalistic, or even patriotic, but what I like about my experience here is that I have said this openly and nobody has told me, "Well you should pack your bags and leave the country then." Of course that's not an option for everyone, but for me it is. Maybe I would have had a different experience if I weren't white and didn't sound (west coast) Canadian. Having thought about it more, Closer to the Heart gets my vote too. I like the song more.

Love it!! Prolly any other song, 'cept I Think I Am Going Bald would get a Rush vote from me. CTtH is a concert fav and is almost an anthem song for the boyz..... Between the two thou Kansas kicks a$$.
