I like both tunes, but I'm going with Rush - FoL by a hair.

Lamneth b y a very slim margin. I do love Salmacis but strangely my favourite version is with Collins singing it at Knebworth in 78. Gabriel sings it better but the drumming is far better on that later version and it just has more energy and is better played.
Lamneth is my fave Rush epic. Prefer it to 2112. I love the strange atmosphere.

Salamacis - the first Genesis track I ever heard and still one of my favourites.

I love both songs and bands , but, I vote in Salmacis, due in Fountain of Lamneth, Rush "crawl" in a real prog rock ( and make a great work in this song), however, at this moment Genesis already dominates the style !

Two random guys agreed to shake hands. Just Because. They felt like it, you know. It was an agreement of sorts...a random agreement.

does the Rush song have a brilliant Hackett guitar solo at the end? When he was all of 20 years old. I think not.

Genesis are my favorite progressive rock band, so there’s no way I’m voting against them, especially in this particular poll. Rush could never hold a candle to Genesis. Sorry, folks.

In many of your posts, I see you saying Genesis this or Genesis that, but you voted against Fountain of Salmacis? WTF?

Tunes?
Please this is prog rock. They're pieces. Not going to find Beyonce making hits from this stuff (... shame...?). Voted Salmacis. Genesis have a very good idea what they are doing. Rush had yet to get there. Lamneth is complex and involved but really has little point (i.e. direction) musically. 2112 is much more focused.
Still both Genesis and Rush mastered the prog epic as well as the song forms in their art.
