Two random guys agreed to shake hands. Just Because. They felt like it, you know. It was an agreement of sorts...a random agreement.

The Noble Captain, no question, but it's hard not to vote for the T. Dream or the Magma.

You say these are more obscure but for me 8 albums from this list rank higher than every one from the other poll.
Can't vote against Can though. |

^ They're all 5 stars in my book but honestly none of them would stand a chance in the other poll against all the big names.

I'll side with Lewian here, there are at least five albums here that trump anything from the first poll. Considering your profile pic, and your constant praise of Godspeed, I have to imagine you prefer Skinny Fists over a few of those big names.

^^ Yeah that's what I'm saying I just did not express myself clearly. I prefer each album here to any of the albums listed in the other poll but if I had combined both, 80% of the voters would have voted Pink Floyd, Genesis, Yes , Beatles, etc. and the albums of this poll would have been almost completely ignored. During my relatively short time on this forum I quickly realized that a lot of members here know only about the obvious stuff and will therefore vote for the bands they are familiar with while dismissing the masterpieces unknown to them. So I thought that making two different polls, one with albums everyone knows and another with more or less obscure material would make sense. Only the results of this poll here truly interest me but I made the other so that people would not complain about the Lamb, the Wall, etc. not being included.

Surely you did well with these polls, no complaint here! I liked the other one, too, despite being dominated by this one.
Fair enough; mostly I think that the poll creator sets the rules and people should play with what they get rather than complain about what's not there. (Unless it's "what's the best album by XXX" and you list all but two.) |

Some pretty nice picks here. I will have to go with Soundtracks for the Blind on this one. That one might just be the best thing Swans put out over the years. It has various of musical styles in there, each being as disturbing as the other (in a good way, of course).

^ I wrote "relatively obscure". They are not known by a majority of people here contrary to the other poll's albums. If my use of the word obscure associated with the albums I chose makes you uncomfortable then go ahead and make Double Albums 3 with albums YOU consider to be truly obscure.
please see that I wrote "a lot" and not "all".

It still seems odd to me to say 'a lot of the members don't know this stuff' and that 'they only know the obvious stuff'. In my experience here I'd say most people know their stuff well enough that these are not 'unknown materpieces' to them; maybe they've dismissed it already as not being their thing or something but obscurity is likely not the issue... Not trying to attack you, just pointing that out.

Cardiacs? lol Terrible band |

All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

Arco Iris, then Harmonium, then Magma. If Agitor Lucens V (Arco Iris' other double album) was here I may have voted for that, too.
