I have to admit to having not really listened to it much since it came out. It is a nice enough listen for when you are in that type of mood. I prefer to it Division Bell and Momentary Lapse of Reason!

I kind of mildly don't dislike it. Sort of.

Album? Thought it was a single with the longest intro ever.
No kidding. It's a very intriguing series of suites and they did a fine job building it. Well done Pink Floyd.

Me too. The best album since Animals, in my opinion.

I'm actually surprised to see the low-ish rating for TER - something like 3.42 thereabouts. I think this album is the absolute best Gilmour, Mason and Co. could give us in light of the dearly departed Wright. An album of 'Classic' sounding Pink Floyd, modern, yet with their trademark 70's spirit (even hints at pre-70's too). I think we're lucky to have this album.

If folks were expecting another Meddle, or Dark Side, or Piper - then I suggest you go fish. Can't happen, will never happen, won't happen. Those hoping for Animals II, well, no Rog. The Endless River would've been AMAZING had it been in the stoner 70's. Now, with everyone being all grown up and 'clear' minded, it's a boring piece of nostalgia. Get a grip.

Hmm I don't agree with you Tom even if it warms my old heart to see Floyd being awarded with such high remarks...but for me The Endless River lacks something that used to be very present in Floyd: nerve. The atmospheres are gentle, soothing, nice, velvety and very welcoming but for my tastes there's a huge vacuum that once was filled with fire and sparks. It's just waaaay too polite and docile for a stoner album or indeed a Floyd album. Just my opinion though

^^ I'd add that it's not even interesting enough for an ambient album either (ambient being a genre entirely based around atmosphere)

Nahh Tom it's the other way around The Endless River sounds like an album that could've been made in the 70s and then put on hold for 40 years. The band re-unites and finds this old tape of them jamming away. The music is wild and slightky rough around the edges and generally feels a tad too immature. They then "fix" all of this in the studio by being clearheaded adults that have forgotten the magic of 'mistakes' and doing things 'loosey-goosey'

^ Dude, wtf ?? O.K. - Endless River may be a 'tease' of the greatness this band has achieved, but I'm happy to consume some 'dribs and drabs' (oh sh*t, I have no morals...... ) over nothing at all...... (or Rattle That Lock).

All the (living) members of Floyd seem to suffer with what generally all highly successful people of a certain age (but it also happen way way younger too): a lack of interested in doing something they haven't before.
(sic) - yes, I know of Ça Ira...)

Just perused my vinyl package of TER, it's all lavishly presented and all, but many of us don't 'get' the nautically related pictures and overall layout. If you've never held Rick Wright as one of those spectacular 70's keyboard wizzes, you'd never understand the purpose of those photographs, meaning, the album must be purposefully aimed at the diehards. Still, I'm a Floyd diehard, I love the album, and therefore cannot grasp the negative responses to such a beautifully put together piece of art.
