AAMOF (matter of speech, of course ) , More is +/- under-rated. Hence, the notion of over-rated can only be applied (IMHO) to very successful albums that are lauded by critics and fans and that you can only disagree that it is as good as its reputation.

In my country, most overrated Pink Floyd album is The Wall, many people heard of album at radio stations, reason for other albums excluding DSOTM to be underrated because are almost unknown to masses.

Overrated means assessed or valued too highly (OED).
Too hold something in too high esteem, possibly out of ignorance.
I've been saying this for years here so I probably sounds like a broken record to some, but one can deem that a group or individual has overrated something and be objective in your method of assessment of how they assess it (say within specific frameworks of analysis).
I think it generally best to claim something is overrated by a group or an individual when speaking specifics. For instance, if someone claims that The Flower Kings is the most important band in Prog, and without the Flower Kings the Progressive Rock music movement would never have been born, that person has overrated the significance of The Flower Kings. As another case, someone claims that x musician is the best ever, yet one can point out technical flaws on the performance. That person has probably confused best with favourite. And frankly who could make such a claim without hearing everyone and being an expert, and even then it would be debatable. In some cases I believe that errors can be generally held as true. They say that history is written by the victors, and I suspect that there are many historical figures who are widely overrated. They didn't accomplish all that was claimed. I was listening to a podcast on Trump last night where the guest made all sorts of grand claims about Trump, and just based on what I know and what makes sense to me, I think that that person was holding Trump in too high a regard (overrating him).

I think that everyone should distinguish between OVERRATED and OVERPLAYED. Sometimes overexposure can make us forget how awesome an album is.

Yes, I agree, the best production job - of it's era! I like "Any colour you like" - but the rest is mediocre. I have 2000 better CD's in my collection. ho-hum (captcha-aaaaaargh)

DSOTM and Atom Heart Mother may be slightly overrated.
I don't personally like The Wall, but still reluctant to call it "overrated".
Don't agree that Animals is overrated; about where it should be (at least on PA)

I would argue that Roger Waters and David Gilmour have underrated Atom Heart Mother, and that Ron Geesin has deserved more recognition and respect.

I'm responding from a totally subjective standpoint. Everybody who knows Pink Floyd knows The Wall (and yes DSOTM). I personally find The Wall inconsistent and musically ugly.

I love the inconsistency/ contrasts of The Wall. To each his or her own... Goodbye Blue Sky....
Off-topic reminiscing: The Wall has been such a special to me album from the day my brother first brought it home. I was shocked by the album art and delighted by the music which I felt really naughty to be listening to (like the day I first saw a... never mind. I guess I needed a dirty woman). ....When I lined up overnight with friends to get tickets to The Wall in '86 and someone was playing the album, and we were all singing along to it..... Such good times. It was a long night, we also did do other Pink Floyd albums.

I love Floyd. Yeah, Fanboy right here. I don't think they ever released a dud album (but, weaker albums for me, across the board, have been Obscured and Momentery Lapse - both 3 stars). Most overrated ?? Probs Dark Side ; though excellent, ratings and opinions a waaaay overblown.

Operation Mindcrime and Scenes From A Memory, aarrrgghhh. So overrated, doesn't even compare to Sgt Piper's Lonely Gates Dawn Band.

the problem with The Wall is about the same as with The Lamb >> too long and uneven I'm always wondering how perfect an album TW (and Lamb) might've been as a single LP, if the selection had been more drastic. There are lengths in the Wall and tracks which are relatively weak and unessential (especially on side 3 between Hey You and Comfortably Numb), and some tracks are about double the length they need to be (Mother is the most obvious one, Empty Spaces also, but to a lesser extent) Did Comfy Numb need to go around a second time, or could it have been stopped at the first round? My selection below is made not only from the tracks I like, but those that are indispensible in the concept. in italic, the songs I would've shortened and their new length (this is totally arbitrary, of course)1. In The Flesh? (3:17) 2. The Thin Ice (2:28) 3. Another Brick In The Wall Part 1 (3:41) 5. Another Brick In The Wall Part 2 (3:56) 6. Mother (2:32) 7. Goodbye Blue Sky (2:48) 8. Empty Spaces (3:36) 9. Young Lust (2:03) 12. Another Brick In The Wall Part 3 (1:17) 1. Hey You (4:39) 6. Comfortably Numb (3:49) 8. In The Flesh (4:16) 9. Run Like Hell (4:22) 10. Waiting For The Worms (3:56) 11. Stop (0:34) 12. The Trial (5:16) Sure it would've been still too long for a single Lp, but then again
Genesis albums showed you could cram in around 25 minutes per vinyl
side.

The problem with this over rating / underrating lark is the real target. If someone harps on about Sgt Pepper, DSOTM, Wall or whatever it's their problem. If something is payed to death the music is still fine just your perception had been negated.
It's an attack on you the listener, it's provocative. If Dark Side is overrated it mean its very popular. This would mean all these attributions are valid and eternal; no dissenting opinions will be tolerated. It gets .. progressively worse... As Logan pointed out people confuse "best" with "favourite" and this just causes more confusion. But perceptions and beliefs have all that emotional investment and other points of view are not to be considered. Security blanket syndrome and dogma substitutes for rational debate. Very tedious.
Nothing really is overrated, matter of fact everything is underrated.

Oh, that would have to be Animules. Just a non-event after what had preceded it (imho). It makes The Wall look good, and that would have been my choice had it not existed.
