Hi,

I'm gonna tell my momma that you stole my idea of playing a bunch of ECM material ... the most neglected stuff EVER ... you're missing Terje Rypdal though (get EOS ... and skip the first cut! ... if you do not like it ... you will never enjoy any better "chamber music" ... that what is there. So ECM, it's not funny!

Clap
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

On January 6 I played 8 songs that I consider worthy of submission to the Hall of Fame of Prog Epics--the best/my favorite prog epics of the year 2017, including:

BATTLESTATIONS "Vixit III" from my #1-rated Best Album of 2017, Vixit.

TREE TOPS' "Pigeons in Space" from my #5-rated and favorite album of the year, Ghosts Don't Dance with Shoes

Sulana Bassana's ELECTRIC MOON Krautrock project, Stardust Rituals. The song is: "(You Will) Live Forever Now."

Norwegian veterans WOBBLER have produced an universally acclaimed masterpiece in their album From Silence to Somewhere (which I have rated #8 on my year-end Top Albums list) from which we get the epic masterpiece "Foxlight."

https://wobbler.bandcamp.com/album/from-silence-to-somewhere

Ketil Estrum Veinarsen (JAGA JAZZIST, KAUKASUS, WHITE WILLOW, PIXIE NINJA) has been working on his tribute to and resurrection of classic Krautrock sound for several years. With the help of Jacob Holm-Lupo (WHITE WILLOW, THE OPIUM CARTEL), Mattias Olsson (ANGLAGARD, WHITE WILLOW, KAUKASUS, and others) and others he has produced an amazing album called Sehr Kosmisch Ganz Progisch under the group name WESERBERGLAND from which I recognize the song "Das Trinklied vom Jammer der Erde" as the best of the album's four prog epic songs--and album which came in at #2 on my year-end Top 20 Albums of the Year list.

BIG BIG TRAIN has been polishing its mastery of symphonic prog to express its appreciation and reverence for little-known or forgotten historical figures from British history for over 20 years. This year's Grimspound contains several masterpieces of prog and three prog epics, including this one, the sublime and yet powerful "Brave Captain."

It took Minneapolis band BUBBLEMATH almost fifteen years to pull together their second album--and we are so glad for it's presence as Edit Peptide came in at #19 on my year-end "Best of" list. Here's the masterful epic, "Routine Maintenance."

ALIO DIE contributed to three 2017 albums that graced my year-end top 30 list. Here we're going to hear the best song from the lot, "Stato di grazia" from ALIO DIE & LINGUA FUNGI's Lento--my #7-rated Album of 2017.

It's time to post my playlist from last night's show. Again, after listening to over 230 album releases from 2017--and posting reviews of 150 of them--I'm broadcasting my year-end "Top" lists--last night Part One of my 30 FAVORITE 2017 Albums show, numbers 30 through 10 (with the absence of two, SEQUENTIA LEGENDA's "Ethereal" [#21] and WESERBERGLAND's "Sehr Kosmisch Ganze Progisch [#18] due to their songs being too long for a two hour show):

March 5:

Here it is, the playlist from last night's wild and woolly episode of Prog Is Alive! I had a great time with my esteemed guest, Lone Pine Records founder and owner, Bill Fiorella. I learned a lot and pushed myself far outside of my comfort zone while remaining loose and light. It was a fun night!

We hoped you enjoyed our little excursion into our evidential exposition of some of the African influences upon the genesis of progressive rock's Jazz Fusion subgenre. Those cats sure knew how to groove!

As always, you can check out the show for your self anytime during the week by finding the stream in WDRT's Prog Is Alive! archives at www.wdrt.org. Next week I'll be boppin' back to 2017: some of the great epic releases from the Prog Electronica subgenre. Tune in: same prog time, same prog channel!

Even though geography has forced me to retire from broadcasting my live radio show from my beloved studios of WDRT-Viroqua, the station has chosen to retrieve old shows from their music archives for re-broadcasting.

I've totally forgotten to make you guys aware that I'm once again broadcasting new episodes of Prog Is Alive at my usual time slot at 10:00 PM CMT on WDRT.org 91.7 FM. The new community I live in has a radio studio in the Library where I can pre-record my shows and then send them to the program director at my old station for Sunday night broadcast. After that, the shows (and playlists) remain available for streaming for the following week--until the next broadcast.

Anyway, I'm going to try to get back into trying to make a habit of posting my weekly playlists.
Streaming right now (for 36 more hours) is this one: Episode 391: "'Classic Era' Prog Folk Epics, 1975-81"

The actual (full) name is: "Prog Is Alive and Well in the 21st Century," as I say at the opening of each and every show.

It could be This Prog Show Is a Live! I found the link to the page, had some difficulty navigating at wwww.wdrt.org so I googled it. https://www.wdrt.org/prog-is-alive/

They are bringing radio back, but radio or radio-like is not my preferred form. Streaming and recorded works for me.

If there is a RSS feed for podcast form (I see wdrt has podcasts but yours is not listed) then one could play on one's player of choice. I'm just using the common-old-garden Apple podcast player on my phone. Good to be seen on as many platforms as possible often.

That 1993 one looks very up my alley. My favourite of those albums is Björk. The first song I heard by Björk was Venus as a Boy while working in Japan in the mid 90s. Not surprisingly her quirky music was popular over there.

Do you have a direct link to the latest program, I'm having some difficulties with navigation? I'm using browser that I am not as comfortable with since my old one developed issues.
Just a fanboy passin' through.
