It's a close call - but it's ELP's debut.  More interesting and more consistent dynamism - and the one that I have listened to the most over the years.  I know I will be in the minority with this one...

Very tough choice. I'll go with KC I guess, but there's not much in it. ELP's debut is one of the best debut albums of all time IMO, and for me ELP's second best album.
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

Forty years ago, I'd have said ITCOTCK. I thought it was great when it came out. I didn't really get ELP's classical style.

Over time, ITCOTCK has completely lost its appeal, bar Epitaph and the title track. Conversely, ELP has grown on me, so they get my vote.

Crimson out of these two although I am enjoying the ELP debut more now since I first got it.
Too boring to opt for the 'other' option but there are some debuts from around the same time that I vastly prefer:
Amon Düül ll - Phallus Dei
Magma - Kobaďa
Can - Monster Movie
Santana - s/t
Colosseum - Valentyne Suite
East of Eden - Mercator Projected
Embryo - Opal

KC for me but ELP's second, third and fourth albums were better than KC's.

The obvious winner is King Crimson, and my vote goes to ITCOTCK, but that does not mean ELP had a bad debut album. Indeed, it is a great album, a true jewel of the progressive rock era.

It's really tough to vote against an album with The Barbarian, Knife Edge & Lucky Man but ITCOTCK is a historical icon Wink

Voted for my favourite ELP album. KC's debut currently shares the third place with LTIA.

I love both, but ELP's debut is one of the best things that's ever been. "Knife Edge," baby!!!!

Epitaph alone is enough for me to vote against those ELP tracks. And Schizoid Man and Court of the Crimson King seal the deal.

Zappa? Sabbath?
