John Zorn's, Naked City, has a lot of things going on stylistically. If Mr.Bungle is being discussed; Zorn too needs to be in the conversation.

Take your pick out of any of the early Split Enz albums. They have everything: prog, rock, music theatre, jazz, pop, boogie woogie, concert hall, blues, classical etc.

I wouldn't call "helter skelter" metal and I'm sure most people wouldn't either. It's barely even proto metal.
