Pink Floyd.
PT is my second favorite band of all times, the first is PF.

Floyd. Easy choice, particulalrly Water's lyrics. I like the bitterness and anger.

I do like PT a lot - but PF are on another level.

Porcupine Tree are not in the same league. They have their moments but they are prog for beginners. Floyd were masters of their craft and completely original in their sound. PT were a mish mash of thirty years of influences. Sometimes the formula worked very well (In Absentia) sometimes it was a snore fest (The Incident) Sometimes it was simply a poor mans Floyd (Sky moves sideways)
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

Hi,

Not sure I like this poll, since, for me, PT is a Pink Floyd for the 90's and 00's.

The comparison is a bit too weird for me ... it was a completely different time and place, when PF did their thing, and it was the beginning of the internet when SW started his thing. In many ways, SW and then PT, got where they got because of the Internet ... PF had to hit the road and make things work, and their value in the "history" of rock music is far more important than PT's.

That does not make PT not as good ... PT is great and deserves every hand shake and pat on the back for a really good job well done.
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!
