Trick by a fair mile, because it's almosdt flawless;.. the weaker track is Squonk, but the rest are luminous and sometimes very fun tracks (Volcano, Robbery & Trick), which fits the funny and summery artwork

W&W still has lots of excellent momments, but it's weakest track is the awful YOSW, which on top of it is double or triple the time it neeeded to be. Other weaker momments are: Wot Gorilla, Afterglow... and some people might say Mouse's Night, but I like it a lot, despite lyrics that seem out of topic with the grey wintery artwork.

TotT was my first Genesis album and while I really like a lot of W&W, it can't compete with Mad Man Moon, Dance on a Volcano & Entangled.  Now if they would have replaced Your Own Special Way with Inside & Out, I might have given a different vote Wink

Trick but not by too much---YOSW is the big problem on W and W and takes away from it---should have put Inside and Out or nearly any song on Spot the Pidgeon to replace it.

When they first came out I liked TOTT more. These days I prefer W&W.

YOSW is ridiculously bad though.

Both are great but a trick of the tail seems more focused and melodic to me. W&W while still good has too much that isn't really top notch(unlike TotT where everthing is great imo). I'm referring to "all in a mouses night,""eleventh earl of mar" and "wot gorilla" in particular. There also seems to be a lot of rehashing the same musical ideas on it which doesn't seem to happen as much on "trick."

What's so bad about it? I actually don't even think it's the worst track on it.

Neither is great. Both are very good, but Trick is just that bit better.

Trick. Definitely one of the best sounding Genesis albums.

Unfortunately yeah. I still love them after that but you're right.. they were never quite the same again.

Geez this is a blowout. I expected it to be much closer.. I have no problem with Your Own Special Way whatsoever and am disappointed that more people don't love that album as much as I do.

btw I voted 'I can't choose I'm just.. I'm too passionate about BOTH!' cause that's how I feel. Both albums are fantastic imo.

Wind and Wuthering for me. They both have lot's of songs I don't care about, and would have made a great album if combined. A Trick of the Tale has mostly several great pop songs, but from Wind and Wuthering, "One for the Vine" must be the best song this line-up did, and the one I could consider slightly comparable to the classic era. Besides, I do love the combo "Unquiet Slumbers for the Sleepers in that quiet Earth", which I consider the best Genesis instrumental. And Afterglow, though also pretty much pop, I do like a lot too (for me, the best pop song this line-up did).

I voted for both. I love Entangled, Los Endos, Mad Man Moon and Ripples. I despise Robbery, Assault and Battery. I love Eleventh Earl of Mar, One for the Vine, Blood on the Rooftops, and Unquiet Slumbers for the Sleepers...In that Quiet Earth. I despise Afterglow and don't much like All in a Mouse's Night.

Two of my favourite Genesis albums, but ATOTT gets the vote.

There are some extreme high points on WAW; Eleveth Earl of Mar, One for the Vine, Blood on the Rooftops, unquiet slumbers/In that quiet earth, and some bad lows; YOSW and Wot Gorilla, and some toe curling sillyness; All in a Mouses Night. It's a fantastic production job though, and Banks and Hackett make excellent contributions.
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!
