Topic: Drum-Only Posted: September 25 2017 at 20:38 |
I'm a little short on time, but I'm looking for some drum-only albums.
I have not really explored at all, and am extremely interested on the topic. I know and love a lot of guitar-only, keyboard-only, and synth-only albums - these guys are actually really common. Layered drums would be really cool. Really any type of percussion works. Any genre too, but I'm looking for progressive and jazzy stuff. This interest is based off of a Scorpions concert from the other day. Motörhead drummer played like a 10-min hard rock drum solo. I'll check back tomorrow! *thanks in advance |

^ I see my link didn't work. But it's the 'Progressive Percussion Records' thread on the 'Prog Recommendations/Featured Albums' board, helpfully just bumped by our esteemed colleague rocko.

Hi, A German group ... Niagara ... had 2 albums I think ... all drums. I think that Mani N. also put together many drum only things, but I have no idea if they were recorded or done just for fun.

Milford Graves has a great album called Percussion Ensemble, which is a series of percussion duets with him and Sunny Murray, two of the finest jazz drummers of the 1960's.

I haven't heard it myself but Micky Hart form the Grateful Dead did a solo album called Planet Drum that's suppose to be good. Incorporates different percussion styles from around the world.( African, South American, Indian...)

I had 20 great all drum albums. My ex girlfriend took them 20 years ago. I wish I could remember the names of the bands. I remember one had St. or Saint in the name. I loved that album.
