I feel going to ten is a little silly but anyone with any interest at all in guitar should be familiar with Nic Jones' work.

Two random guys agreed to shake hands. Just Because. They felt like it, you know. It was an agreement of sorts...a random agreement.

I think that's the first mention of the Magic Mushroom Band I've seen on PA. They were from my home town. I think we supported them once or twice. |

Yes, but 10 you feel strongly about? That's tougher. For me anyway. My top 10 would have to be bands in which I still enjoy a significant amount of their music, not just a few songs here and there. Beatles Kings X The Who Journey Sting Triumph Steely Dan Rik Emmett Alice In Chains Mozart In my younger days, Iron Maiden, Dio, and Queensryche would have made the list but I rarely listen to them anymore. And then there's all the bands on the fringe. Eagles, STP, Doors, Van Halen, Soundgarden, Black Sabbath, Steve Miller, Styx, and others.

OK, that may be the only time in history the Cannibal Corpse & Madonna ended up on the same list. Points for being original!

Going specifically for folk as I can't really do a list of ten things that has Rachmaninov and Buddy Holly right next to each other.

A different list would apply on any given day but right now:
Rabih Abou-Khalil Black Sabbath John Coltrane Andrew Hill Olivier Messiaen Charles Mingus Thelonious Monk Sam Rivers Nick Saloman / The Bevis Frond Per Henrik Wallin I see Steely Dan on several lists - though they are prog according to PA. Then again so is Rabih Abou-Khalil, though God only knows why - his music has nothing to do with rock that I can see or hear. |
