Hi,
As a longtime Genesis fan, i don't think i've ever noticed genesis actually having played any of the 'revelation' tracks live/bootlegs. I know future output was radically different, but did they ever sneak in The Silent Sun or anything when performing those first couple early albums?

Or did they distance themselves 100% from that album?

In all the years that I collected Genesis bootlegs (and I had/have lots!! but not all by any stretch of the imagination) I can honestly say I never came across any tracks from Revelation. I cant remember the band saying explicitly that they distanced themselves from the lp but I think the experience with Jonathan King and their desire to write longer, more complex music just meant it was left behind.

I did notice that in one of the between track 'interludes' included the riff which later became part of 'the twilight alehouse' which was a live favourite in the early 70's and certainly had its roots as early as 1969.

^ That random part right after The Serpent. That's all I've ever recognised. Lovely album, From Genesis To Revelation. Still pretty artsy.

yeah, FGTR isn't bad as an album, per se... It pales compared to 70's Genesis albums, but if that was not named Genesis (like Anon & The Garden Wall or sumthin'), it would probably get less BS thrown at it...

But as such, I don't find it any worse than Giles, Giles & Fripp (both are conceptual of sorts too)

G,G&F - pretty schmaltzy album with a few cool tunes. The spoken vignettes on The Saga Of Rodney Toady are very amusing. Some neat mellotron parts and the last few tracks are impressive. I agree with the comparison. I do prefer FGTR though. Oh, I think the precursor to Twilight Alehouse appears before The Serpent, not after.....been a while since I've listened......
