Their new album after a long break sounds amazing.
I think it is more proggy than the the others.Thats my initial impression.
I am still absorbing it though
Anyone else a fan?
Any comments on 4?

I have the second one ..I think , but I have heard all 3....solid hard blues rock music .....didn't know they were back together.
If it's up on you tube I'll ck it out.

I need to have a proper listen to it this week to pick out your 'proggy' impressions. A solid blues rock band - with one of my favourite guitarists in Joe Bonamassa. I do find Glenn Hughes's vocals hard going at times, though. Always seems to try to live up to his 'Voice of Rock' name by over-stretching his vocal cords on the higher notes.

Always thought the last track of the debut album - Too Late for the Sun - had a progressive feel with a sprawling, hypnotic bass-driven flow of over 11 minutes.

Just given Black Country Communion BCCIV a proper listen to, and I have to say it's a fine piece of modern classic rock. Must be up there with their best efforts. Hughes's voice is more controlled for most tracks and the band seem even tighter this time around.

Prog? Can't really see much evidence. The album has a really strong Zeppelin vibe with a touch of folk and funk on some songs. Sherinian seems more involved on the keyboards and does some nice flurries, but it's very much in the vein of Jon Lord's hammond organ work in the Mk II Deep Purple era or even Tony Carey's swirlings on Rainbow Rising.

Anyway, thanks for giving me a excuse to try something fresh in the classic rock mould on my playlist, before diving back into full-blown prog (currently working through the Hogarth-era Marillion stuff - thanks to input on another thread). So much good music...so little time! Smile

Ok after more listens I will take back my prog leanings off the album.
It just was an initial feeling given some of the keyboard soloing .
But even if it not a prof album I think a prog fan can enjoy it!!

Regardless of the "genre", BCC is a kickass band. Sometimes that's all that matters!
