Rule breakers... I am looking for good and interesting experimental artists to listen to.
Metal, prog, hard rock, jazz, blues, jamming, avant-garde, alternative, indie, rap, spoken word, psychedelic, punk, post-rock... I don't care about the genre. Actually, I like them all in certain amounts, and if anything, I am looking for something new.
Just so you guys can get an idea, some of my favorite artists are: 1. Genesis (Steve Hackett, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, etc, etc.) 2. I don't believe I repeated myself. Anyways, that's definitely one of my more basic lists. I can go on forever, and even as I sit here, it is hard to refrain from adding any others. Again, I want something very different... Lately, I have been very into a lot of spoken word and punk music; Lou Reed and Tom Waits have been some of my more played artists.

Kinda hard to recommend anything specific with such a long and diverse list but from what I see I think you could very much like Krautrock although chances are you've already investigated there. After Can, perhaps go for some Neu! and Faust (two most experimental bands of the Krautrock bunch I'd say). Then you have Tangerine Dream, Cluster and Kraftwerk if you wanna go electronic and Ash Ra Tempel or Amon Duul II if you want something a bit heavier. Popol Vuh is also worth checking out.
Sticking to experimental Krautrock-like music, Franco Battiato's Sulle Corde Di Aries is plain amazing and a must-have for any prog rock fan on the lookout for experimental stuff.
And as you mentioned post-rock, let me just drop Godspeed You! Black Emperor here (you've seen it coming haven't you?). Seeing you are particularly fond of metal, their stuff should blow you away. Their latest album Luciferian Towers is a pretty great place to start.

Try J. S. Bach - he will blow your mind away (and besides you seem to already know everything else) May I suggest cello solo suites ? Goldberg Variations ? Brandenburg Concertos (specially n.2, the one with the trumpet) ? Have fun

Yes, I am very fond of Tangerine Dream and I have checked out some Kraftwerk and Amon Duul II, as well. The others are new to me, so I will let you know whether I enjoy them. Good stuff!
You are definitely right about me being a big fan of metal - that is for sure. I have actually been meaning to try Godspeed You! Black Emperor for a while now, and I think tomorrow is the day! Thanks so much!

I am very familiar with the ones that I starred (I think I even mentioned a few of them in that ridiculous list of mine). Others I have definitely heard of, and I have tried out a little bit of their discoveries. I have been meaning to thoroughly try out Anglagard and Hawkwind for forever...

I didn't list Pink Floyd in my list because I can't imagine any prog fan not knowing their music. Anyway, if you like PF I suggest checking out Eloy, Nektar and also band called RPWL(who actually started out as a PF cover band).
As for Anglagard they are a sort of complex symph sounding band. If you like early KC, early Genesis and Banco you will probably like them. As for Hawkwind, they are very basic compared to most prog but they pioneered space rock so they should at least be checked out.

Yeah, I used to love Pink Floyd, but I have been having some issues with Roger Waters lately (political). A replacement Pink Floyd will hopefully stop me from going crazy (not listening to Animals, Meddle, AHMS, DSOFTM, or The Wall for two months now... now THAT is hard). I still listen to Wish You Were Here, just because I can't resist playing along on guitar.

Well, I personally agree with Roger Waters politics(for the most part) but I admit he is a bit preachy(as is U2). I saw him live a few months ago and while he was great I can see him alienating those who don't agree with him. I guess they figure since they are millionaires they can do whatever they want even if it might alienate many. I don't know if rock n roll is the best platform to discuss or project your personal political opinions but I guess enough people agree with him(them)so they can get away with it or maybe some are willing to overlook it.

Great list. I'd add Von Frickle, Bigelf, Gamma (hard rock, but they did some very good proggy stuff), Goblin, Zombi, Maserati, Nuova Era, and the sadly defunct Tarantula Hawk.
