find this song, i pay you $50.00

Looking to find a song I heard years ago about 1979 no idea who it was can't recall any words.

I can only describe it as an ascending chord progression on electric piano,which gradually adds,drums,bass,guitar and vocal.
The vocalist reminded me of either Cameron Hawkins of FM or John Wetton or Greg Lake type voice.
In the middle had an amazing Alan Holdsworth type lead solo.

IF you can lead me to this song I will PAY YOU I promise,I've tried everything,

Yeah I'm sorry,

All I can say is it is a ballad slow tempo that does double in the lead solo.

It is a very atmospheric tune,especially the start with the chorus on the electric piano and the scales going up .

I heard it on Q-107 F.M. here in Canada and had it on tape until my old tape recorder ate it!
I 've looked all over the net....if only I had a band name....

Sorry but I am completely blank. Your description fits thousands of tunes in pop, rock, prog, fusion and folk.
I think it would be helpful to know what type of music we're talking about. I can think of tunes by Kiss, Gerry Rafferty, Genesis, Zappa, Magazine and The Bay City Rollers that all fit the description.
I do hope you find an answer! I just hate it when I've got something on the tip of my tongue and it never really materialises into anything other than a vague concept of something that for all intents and purposes could be the proverbial bee's knees.

 It is a prog rock type song,slow tempo,prime use of the chorused/phased electric piano up front which start the song.Vocal and instrument come in as far as I recall in about 1 minute. Very moody piece. I wish I could tell you more,

Carrying no Cross? I dunno, that song doesn't have a guitar solo.

I have 3 U.K. albums it does sounds a little like U.K especially in the middle with the lead guitar solo,that starts slowly with bends a bit like Alan Holdsworth then it speeds up with fast picking almost shredding to a climax.

You;re on the right track ,good description similar type of song but maybe a little more rock,no huge temp change .4/4 straight time signature that double in the middle.

Sorry can't remember one word to be honest,I know that won't help.
