After the "Favorite PA Bands A-Z" got me thinking about my favourite band for each letter of the alphabet...

Here are 5 bands with names starting with the letter A which I feel have just about equal chance of winning a poll against each other.

I'm going with Art Zoyd. The other four bands all have at least one album which I prefer over my favourite AZ record (1980's Symphonie Pour le Jour ou Bruleront les Cités) but Art Zoyd is one of the most consistent band (in quality of output not personnel) I've ever been a fan of.

Coincidentally, I was preparing a five A bands this morning, and was considering four of these five from it (and would have included three of them for sure). I got distracted by other things, and closed my tab.

Voting Art Zoyd, and I think Area would be my second choice. Arco Iris is the one of these I don't know well.

Amon Düül II. That´s the only one I have listened in those, although knowing Ash Ra Tempel.

I've only listened to Amon Duul II, so they get the vote.
Welcome to the middle of the film.

Arco Iris!

A great go-to for fans of jazz, folk and psych alike, and one of the most ambitious Argentinian ensembles in terms of executing legendary concept works.

Area. Amazing jazz fusion graced by the talents of the extra-extraordinary Demetrio Stratos!

All of them depending on my mood and the colour of my short shorts.

Dig me...But don't...Bury me
I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive
Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect.

I'm still under the spell of Art Zoyd's box set and so I'll vote for them although the Düüls deserve the vote, too, and Area are another great band. Tough poll, very strong selection.

Haven't heard any Arco Iris; all the rest have at least one very good or great album each. Art Zoyd and Area were both remarkably consistent, but with Zoyd's average quality per album ranking ever-so-slightly higher. Throw in Aksak Maboul or Agitation Free, and this would get incredibly tough.

Yep, arguably one of the best artists ever. Sudamerica and Agitor are too good. And to have double-albums so consistent is something unseen (besides Soft Machine's Third, Konvergencie, Freak Out!, and a few other exceptions)
                      (Winner!!)
So it's between Arco Iris and Area for me.. Amon I could care less for, Zoyd I have one album but I do definitely like its sporadic nature.

But nothing's as pure as Arco's output. Sitting next to me is Agitor, in fact.

Head's up to for people interested in Arco: Amazon has a FULL MP3 version of Agitor Lucens V, which is odd since the only CD available on the market is cut by 20-or-so minutes. So if you're gonna buy it and don't wanna pay $400+, Amazon has a full version of it on their site. Take care!!

I voted ADII, but obviously my favourite A band is the one that's listed first on PA. Because I'm in the band.
