When it comes to my preference - Kansas easily.

Kansas easily. I never liked that ELO "sound" from the Don't Bring Me Down era. I've tried the earlier albums and while they have some interesting things, they just don't click with me.

not a big fan of either, while enjoying quite a few songs by both. But Kansas never irritated me the way ELO did in almost everything post 1975. I just couldn't stand the recycled violin sound bites. So Kansas gets the vote.

ELO, of course. Kansas are dreary and horrible.

Even though Kansas drives me crazy with their awful rock radio friendly songs, there is great prog on the old albums if you hunt for it so gets my vote

I have a few LP’s from each band in my collection, and whilst Kansas had more complex and Progressive material, I grew up with ELO and I listen to their first few albums more often than the Kansas ones, so I’m voting for the underdog here !

Each band had an album or two I liked. Other than that, I could not care less, hence not voting.

Kansas for that great run of early albums in the 70s. ELO's pop hits are an institution and I love most of them - but from a prog rock perspective Kansas were consistently more to my taste. All this despite taking my wife to one of the Jeff Lynne's ELO concerts a year or so ago and guiltedly enjoying myself no end!

ELO - Kansas is OK but nothing special.
ELO were the epitome of perfect prog pop. Time, in particular, is an album of exceptional skill.
