I have this cd for about 10 years ,listened today and have come to the conclusion that it is really one weak album ,wait hear me out ,the songs are rather generic and do not contain any real moments, and are sort of blah , any true yes fan has to is take a listen to 90125 to really notice the difference, you will know what i mean the only 2 half decent songs are the rocker STATE OF PLAY and the almost epic ENDLESS DREAM just compare that to AWAKENINGS and HEART OF THE SUNRISE talk, just did not have really good songs but then again ,maybe most YES fans might not agree ,with this opinion ,of a really dedicated YES fan,you thoughts on this all appreciated GRANT

I personally think Talk is a stellar album.  Of course it’s not in the same league as Going for the One or Fragile but I’d rate it above 90125 any day.  Talk is also recorded very well, crank the volume on a good system and let it shine.  Turn up the sub and rattle the walls in your house.  On State of Play the SPL is incredible; it literally bows the front windshield of my car. Big smile

YES is my favorite dinosaur prog Band and I like Talk.  Way better than Union.

90125 > Union > Talk for me. I can't take Talk seriously, even as a massive YES fan.

I think it's better than Union. But definitely not better than 90125 or Big Generator. I like it, there's something special about it but it's very far from being their most consistently great album lol. But definitely a good album.

For me most of the album is generic west line-up songs... except for Endless Drea, which I really love, and for me it's a perfect example of how to do a modern prog song (for the time). For me that one is just as great as anything else the band might have done before.

I haven´t heard a bad Yes album, but I think Talk is one of the weakest.

Generally album is more pop music oriented (as with other albums produced by Rabin), but there are some nice moments.
I like first track The Calling, but my favorite is Endless dream, which is sort of "epic"

It suffers from the "it's the early 90's and everyone is trying to record with digital" production sound. Didn't Rabin record the entire thing on his computer or something like that? I can tell immediately that it's new tech and they haven't quite mastered it yet.

"I Am Waiting" is the best Rabin-era Yes song imo and "Endless Dream" is excellent as well. The rest of it I can take or leave.

Talk > 90125 >>> Big Generator > Union.

I don't think there's a weak song on Talk, and the production is very good.

I didn't love Talk. I thought it had a few good moments but over all not one of the better Yes albums.
I did like Union a little more than most people in spite of it being butchered in production.

For me the best Rabin era songs are Endless Dream and The More We Live. Owner of a Lonely Heart isn't bad at all for me, though.

I like Talk. It's a solid three star album.

Endless Dream and I am waiting are superb. State of Play is also very good, and I love the production on Talk. The drums sound incredible. They have made far worse althins that Talk.
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!
