Going with SLS, Riverside's best album IMO. Admittedly, though I haven't spent quite enough time with FtM, though the last time I heard it, it kinda blew me away. So, maybe just need to give it some more listens.

My second favourite album by each band. I went with Frances The Mute.

Riverside, no doubts. SLS is their best album and one of my favourite when talking about modern prog-rock.

Second Life Syndrome. The title track is (one of) the tracks of the 2000s and the album is one of my top 5 of all time. I'd rather not say what I think of Frances the Mute.

Mars Volta. Cassandra Gemini is the single greatest track of the 2000s.

Any other year and I would have picked Riverside.
Even though Second Life Syndrome is my favorite album by Riverside, I like Frances the Mute more. However, I am not a big fan of Mars Volta overall. Riverside, on the other hand... I love that band.
