Friede and I made a special edition of "Nursery Cryme" which includes the tracks "Happy the Man" and "Twilight Alehouse". both songs were recorded during the "Nursery Cryme" sessions, but for some reason not included on the album. "Happy the Man" appeared as a single shortly after "Nursery Cryme" came out, but "Twilight Alehouse" much later as b-side of "I Know What I Like"

Wake up, Charlie, rise and shine
Pour the tea, I'll draw the blinds
Sunlight halo, you look wonderful
Darling, Charlie, pale and deathly still
For Heaven's sake, wake up, Charlie

"Margery's wingspan's all feathers and coke cans; TV dinners and letters she won't send. She's tired and lonely, scared and depressed. Visions of one day go racing the next." It's from "Another Horsedreamer's Blues" by Counting Crows; not AT ALL prog, just great songwriting.

"rats
fought the dogs and killed the cats,
bit the babies in the cradles,
ate the cheeses out of the vats,
licked the soup from the cooks' own lades,
split open the kegs of salted sprats,
made nests inside men's Sunday hats
and even spoiled the women's chats
by drowning their speaking
with shrieking and squeaking
in fifty different sharps and flats"

Mother Gong - The Pied Piper of Hamlin

lyrics by Robert Browning, minimally altered (like a few "and" left out)

666 is no longer alone
He's getting out the marrow in your backbone
And the seven trumpets blowing sweet rock and roll
Gonna blow right down inside your soul
Pythagoras with the looking glass reflects the full moon
In blood, he's writing the lyrics of a brand-new tune

I pulled into the Cactus Tree Motel
To shower off the dust
And I slept on the strange pillows of my wanderlust
I dreamed of 747's
Over geometric farms
Dreams, Amelia, dreams and false alarms

All I know is that sometimes you have to be wary
Of a miracle too good to be true
All I know is that sometimes the truth is contrary
Everything in life you thought you knew
All I know is that sometimes you have to be wary
'Cos sometimes the target is you

It's nine o'clock on a Saturday
The regular crowd shuffles in
There's an old man sitting next to me
Makin' love to his tonic and gin
He says, "Son, can you play me a memory
I'm not really sure how it goes
But it's sad and it's sweet and I knew it complete
When I wore a younger man's clothes."

The overwhelming amount of information on a daily basis restrains people from rewinding the news record archives to refresh their memories...

See what it takes to become what is truly yours
Don't let it break you and take you away from us
This road will lead you to nothing but fearful eyes
This war means freedom, but freedom means sacrifice

You just dragged back painful memories of my dad ecstatically singing along to that during road trips. Years of therapy down the drain LOL

^ Bwahahahaha LOL

My dad had the decency not to sing along, but he would always air guitar along to the epic 3.7 second long guitar solo.
