Added! Great find :)

Not really prog but jazz, though some of her albums are on the borderline to jazz-rock: Barbara Dennerllein (modified Hammond B-3 including bass pedals).

Yeah, she seems to be primarily jazz. She's not on PA, listed only as jazz on RYM and not listed as any sort of fusion on JMA so thanks for the suggestion but don't want to open the pure jazz doors. I will check her out though :)

Her album "Outhipped", one of the two albums I mentioned, is listed as fusion, jazz-rock at DiscCogs:

https://www.discogs.com/Barbara-Dennerlein-Outhipped/release/473363

While she primarily is a jazz artist her musical spectrum is very wide and reaches from solo appearances on church organs to performances with symphony orchestra. And some of her albums (the two mentioned by me and also "That's Me") fall into jazz-rock / fusion.

A track like this one is definitely on the rock side:

Hmmm. Not really convinced. That was definately on the rock side but not very progressive. It was basically the blues with some psychedelic organ

As I said, she is very versatile, and isn't versatility one of the main characteristics of prog? I think you will agree that this one is jazz-rock/fusion:

Anyway, she is one of the greatest instrumentalists out there; you have to watch her simultaneous work on pedals and keys. Seeing is believing!

OK, you convinced me with those videos! She's actually amazing that she started her own record label in 1985. A true musical goddess in every possible way!

Thanks, Tom! I had no idea that this project would lead to such a large list. Female prog artists are everywhere and yet they don't get the recognition they deserve for sure.

However, the CD is all in Japanese, and I have no idea what her name is!

A bit on the jazz side of things, but she is very progressive in her own way, would be FLORA PURIM ...but some might object to her listing on a "progressive" setting, although the work she has done considered mostly jazz, there is a lot of work, that ... you go ... that's jazz, and some of it was with her husband Airto.

The only thing I would like to see, and even though it is likely to be almost impossible, is having a small blurb about each of these women ... kinda hate to see them degraded to a database number and listing and nothing else ... and many of them deserve a lot more than that!

Flora Purim sounds good. She was in Return To Forever and all so why not.

The list has taken enough time just compiling and some of these artists have no info whatsover except that they exist! If you want to write all the blurbs for each artist, i'd gladly add them Wink

Otherwise i have a million other projects i'm doing at the moment. This one was just something that sort of happened spontaneously and i ran away with it because no one else had compiled a list like this Smile

Rachel Flowers. She doesn't have a prog album really, but has performed live with "Zappa plays Zappa" and has a slew of covers of King Crimson, ELP...and this instant prog goddess credential .

Absolutely. I still like her early stuff the best, but she's really consistent. Something about Straight Ahead, Hot Stuff and That's Me!

Belgium's Now recorded only three albums (and an EP) from 1988-1992. Véronique Duyckaerts is the bassist on all three. She plays fretted and fretless, and she's quite good at it!

Now that's a prog goddess indeed! She has one album on RYM but it looks like a pop album of some sort. I could add her and include this link with an explanation. Good find!

Coven: witchcraft destroys minds & reaps souls. What a fun record. They played in San Francisco last weekend and I am kicking myself for not flying out there for it. Plus they were playing with Hammers of Misfortune. I need to become independently wealthy.
