Pretty happy with where my picks came out, it was obvious the Art Zoyd wouldn't get many votes given the size of the box, glad several others votes for it. Thinking Plague, Mike Oldfield, Cheer-Accident, Accordo were all on my list.

(1). Art Zoyd - 44 1/2 Live and Unreleased Box (40)
(2). Thinking Plague - Hoping Against Hope (6)
(3). Vezhlivy Otkaz - Military Verses (133)
(4). Mike Oldfield - Return To Ommadawn (5)
(5). Schnellertollermeier - Rights (23)
(6). Yolk - Solar (24)
(7). Yowie - Synchromysticism (73)
(8). Cheer-Accident - Putting Off Death (11)
(9). Aquaserge - laisse ca etre (60)
(10). Miriodor - Signal 9 (19)
(11). Led Bib - Umbrella Weather (207)
(12). Accordo dei Contrari - Violato Intatto (2)
(13). Camembert - Negative Toe (50)
(14). Schnauser - Irritant (98)
(15). Trojan Horse - Fukushima Surfer Boys (102)
(16). The Orvalians - The Great Filter (108)
(17). Prescott - Thing Or Two (222)
(18). Ephemeral Sun - Lord Of Hounds (254)
(19). Bubblemath - Edit Peptide (45)

Thank you for putting "Sum Of Parts" on your list.  I am very grateful for all PA has done for me over the years!

Waters in first place? You mad dog.

Yup, Algiers' debut album was much better than its follow-up

Thank you IanThumbs Up

Yes I suppose the talking point is Steven Wilson as always! At one point I wondered if it might not make the list at all! I actually edited my list and included it somewhere about 13 but only really because of Detonation , perhaps the best track of the year and some consolation.
I put Wobbler at about 5 in my list. I absolutely love Magenta - We Are Legend (my number one) but I was pretty much alone in that (only one other collab voted for it)

Nah we all knew Wobbler would take this easily. Probably the finest Yes album since the 70s.

The madness of passing the inevitable SW has happened twice before in recent years: Hand.Cannot.Erase was beaten by Anekdoten's Until All the Ghosts Are Gone in the 2015 list. And in the 2016 list, reached only #88-93.

My #3 in an earlier AotY list (that of 2014) is the one that deserves the title "Finest Yes album since the 70s" (imho, of course). Not because it is finer than Wobbler's latest effort, but because it is more reminiscent of the great Yes years. The title track of Druckfarben's Second Sound is more or less what Yes would sound like if they had maintained their quality and it is on par with the Yes epics of the 70s.

Great job, Ian!

The list I presented, as usual, had only 10 albums. Because I am inherently lazy and have an aversion to long lists....

1. Big Big Train - Grimspound

2. Wobbler – From Silence to Somewhere

3. Discipline – Captives of the Dark Wine Sea

4. Bent Knee – Land Animal

5. King Crimson – Live in Chicago

6. Agusa - Agusa

7. Steven Wilson – To The Bone

8. Deluge Grander – Oceanarium

9. David Gilmour – Live at Pompeii

10. Strawbs – Ferryman’s Curse

to take the place of the mud shark in your mythology...

Why does this post not stay at the top of the "Top 10s and lists" table of contents like all of the previous year-end lists?
