Other then Chuck Berry anf Curtis Mayfield; these fellows were big influences on the articulation and soloing of rock and made some of the bedrock of rock music. Surf music and the Shadows created their own nieche.

So who do you think were most impactfull on rock music

Absolutely Dick Dale! I like some Shadows songs, but really in Finland the Shadows has a big respect when surf is really underrated. There are also too many puritans who only accept Shadows-style instrumental music. You could have put Marvin vs Nokie Edwards. Nokie is absolutely great player (saw him live some years ago) and there was Shadows vs Ventures in the sixties.

Dick Dale for me every time.

Let's not forget Bob Berryhill of The Surfaris (RIP)

Do 'The Stanley' otherwise I'll thrash you with some rhubarb.

From what I've read The Shadows had a big impact in the UK on budding musicians. I don't know much about Dick Dale, he's only really know for Pulp Fiction in the UK.
