Let me explain myself.

In the history of bandnames, a lot bandnames are used by different bands, Like Nirvana (sixtiesband, ninetiesband), Bad Company (Drum&bass group, bluesrockgroup), PFM (Italian progrock, drum&bass producer), Iron Maiden, Saga,

Especially on Last.FM there's a lot of fightings going on in the commentsection about wich version of band A is better. Sometimes I happen to like both (or more) bands with the same name.
Let's stay positive and only name the bands you actually like and refrain from bashing other bands with the same name.

I'll start:

Bad Company - bluesrockband related to Free, great guitar/great vocals / drum&bass/jungle-act, very nice aswell (on their albums they are called ƆEIƎC, wich is a stylized version of Bad Company)

PFM - I like the Italian progband very much, but I also like the producer PFM. It's a sort of fusion-infused drum&bass, some call it intelligent drum&bass. It's really worth the try.

That's all I can think of now. But more will come, I'll have to check my discography :D

I bet you didn't know there two other bands named Saga (at least). One is from Sweden anad apparently plays prog. I say apparently because I haven't heard them, just what I read. .
But I heard a Dutch band named Saga. The album is called To Whom It May Concern and was released in 1979. A pretty good album.

There's a spanish Saga, that plays prog. And the dutch Saga indeed.
But I haven't listened to them, so I can't say I like them (yet). maybe I should give it a try.

The Swedish Saga is a nazi-band. I can't like that. hahahaha

I just read there is a Swedish singer named Saga that is an NS singer.
The Swedish band Saga apparently is a 70s prog band.

SONAR from Hungary.
SONAR from Switzerland.

The Swiss band say their name is short for "SONic ARchitecture", so I renamed their MP3's to keep them separate from the Hungarian band.

FM from Canada - prog-related band featuring Nash The Slash on violin.
FM from the UK - AOR band with Neo-prog tendencies from England.  One of my favorite "modern" AOR bands.

Virus. Here is what last.fm has to say. This apparently does not count "The Virus" or variants containing accents.

Virus (the one from Argentina) is a pretty famous 80's synthpop band ...I'm not a fan, but I respect them.

I wanna add Cathedral. We have the doom metal band form England, and the symphonic rock group from the US.
Two random guys agreed to shake hands. Just Because. They felt like it, you know. It was an agreement of sorts...a random agreement.

^It's #2 on the list. The description on the page.

02. Virus was a short-lived German band that released just two LP's during their brief existence: 'Revelation' (early '71) and 'Thoughts' (late '71). Though they've been often tagged as a krautrockband, Virus was actually a hard rock/psych '70's ensemble from the Bielefeld/Westphalia area. They also released superb live album 'Remember', which was recorded at Koln on April 28, 1973 for WDR Radio show.

There's a fine early Romanian prog band called 'Accent', and at least five other Euro bands ranging from pop to boyband to hippie rock with same name.  Can't say I like any except the Romanians, but there it is.

If you want bands with the same name check out this Rate Your Music list. While i'm not familair with most of them, i am a fan of both Leviathans, know both Airs, both Cathedrals, both Deaths, both Sabbats and a few others. Cool list.

Awesome

I think "The Dublicate" would be a good band name.

I'm quite fond of Christian Vander's Magma, and just last weekend I discovered that Magma was also the name of an Argentinian prog folk group. I actually just recently bought their first two albums thanks to some positive reviews from none other than our resident pup himself! So thanks for the implicit recommendation, man - I'm loving both of their albums! Clap

So that would be the only example I can think of for two artists I like sharing the same name. Apparently there's a third Magma on this site (a Krautrock band) but I have yet to check them out.

Also, with respect to my comment above about Magma and Magma, I see they aren't on your RYM list, so they'd probably be a good addition if you're looking to expand it. And you can also add Quebecois jazz fusion band Solstice to the trio of other Solstices already on the list:

This has been in that Norwegian prog thread, but there is Finnish great progband Wigwam and then there is Norwegian Glam metal band Wig Wam. Donīt like the latter. Also there were two Kaleidoscopes in UK & US about same times, I like both but more the UK one.

Found out from that rate your music list that there has been also third Kaleidoscope in same time in Dominican Republic!

There's an American hard rock band called Zebra, a German pop rock band called Zebra, and a Spanish progressive rock band called Zebra. That's not counting the German pop duo Zebra, the reggae singer Zebra, or the Serbian eclectic rock group Zebra.

That's not my list otherwise Magma would surely be on it. Actually there are many Magmas

The famous French zeuhl band
The prog folk band for Argentina
A Krautock duo from Germany
A hard rock band from South Korea
A pop band from Poland
A tribal house band from Belgium
A band of unknown genre from Mexico

But yeah, i actually like all three Magmas on PA
