Ok. ,maybe should have been in 'polls', except it isn't a poll, and also has little justification for existing even as a question, but here it is:

Which UK top 50 single specifically mentions the album 'Hergest Ridge' in the lyrics?

I'd like to say don't DuckDuckGo it, but I actually doubt it would turn up the answer anyway.

Not sure if it's a UK top 50 single but the short cut titled "On Horseback" at the end of Mike Oldfield's Ommadawn has the words "Hergest Ridge" somewhere in the lyrics.
"Larks' tongues. Wrens' livers. Chaffinch brains. Jaguars' earlobes. Wolf nipple chips. Get 'em while they're hot. They're lovely. Dromedary pretzels, only half a denar."

No, a little further away from home. Though it was from the 70's.

Found it in Google pretty quickly. I've actually got the song in question on vinyl and I didn't think of it.

I'll leave you in suspense.

Tried to post this twice earlier, but it was eaten (by the monster of love)

'Heads Down No Nonsense Mindless Boogie'  by  Alberto Y Lost Trios Paranoias (1978)

Essentially a send up of status Quo. Listeners at the time probably thought of 'Rockin All Over the World', but it's a lot faster and heavier, and sounds more like 'Down Down'

'I ain't got no mind to speak of
 In fact I'm pretty thick
But I can strap on an axe, shake meself about
 Boogie til I'm sick
I ain't got no time for intellectual music
 e.g. 'Hergest Ridge'
Give me a riff that swings like a can of cold beans
And I can boogie like a bitch'

On their first album, in 1976, the Albertos had parodied Hawkwind's 'Sonic attack' and Silver Machine', Pink Floyd's 'Echoes' and a load of other proggish tracks I've either forgotten or never identified ('Mandrax sunset Variations Parts I - III' from their self titled album. And good luck getting that on CD)

"This is your captain speaking. Your captain is knackered."
