How well do you know Amon Düül 2? Let's find out in this quiz.

1) What happened after an Amon Düül concert in Frankfurt?

a) Some members of Amon Düül 2 tried to break into a bank but took a powder when the alarm went off.
b) Some members of Amon Düül 2 beat up a dope peddler because he wanted too high a price for his hashish.
c) The band crashed a buffet of businessmen who in return chased them through Frankfurt with their cars and tried to run them over.

2) What did Renate Knaup do besides singing in the band?

a) She regularly shoplifted dresses from department stores.
b) She participated in hardcore porn movies.
c) She occasionally took off all her clothes on stage.

3) What was the flawed ambition of Chris Karrer besides playing music?

a) He wanted to become a theatrical actor but had stage fright (for acting only; evidently not for music).
b) He wanted to become a graphic artist but was colorblind.
c) He wanted to become a jet pilot but suffered from vertigo.

4) What happened at the first concert of Amon Düül (before they split up into 1 and 2)?

a) They all played naked on stage.
b) There were about 40 people on stage, all members of the commune they lived in including kids.
c) The band burned effigies of German politicians on stage.

Good luck with answering these questions.

Multiple votes are allowed, but you can only vote one at a time.

I read Schober's Tanz der Lemminge about a hundred years ago but I remember none of these (not sure whether any of these was in the book or whether my memory is so bad... probably the latter).
So I have to guess: 1-c, 2-b, 3-c, 4-b.

All of the correct answers were mentioned in Schober's book, which by the way I highly recommend. But I'll not tell you if you are correct, at least not yet..

I’ve gone with a ‘gut feeling’ on my answers. I’d like to get a hold of that book ! Amon Duul II were the very first German ‘Krautrock’ band I got into - Carnival In Babylon, back in ‘89. Then I scored a beautiful condition copy of Yeti with the textured sleeve - for 8 bucks !! That album, along with copious amounts of ‘space cabbage’ and Life was never the same

Don´t know much of Amon although really love their music. No book in Finnish. Only thing what I remembered from them is that when they were recording Carnival In Babylon, they had so much fights inside the band the some bandmembers even were told having guns with them. Don´t know is it true at all.

My first album that I heard was Wolf City. Liked quite much that, but next was Tanz that I started to love almost immediately! Haven´t heard any their albums after Vive La Trance, remember to heard some songs from Hijack that sounded good, have to listen it some of these days.

It is true, guns and knives were used in dispute, which led to the band splitting up before recording "Wolf City". Some of the band members went off and formed Utopia who started recording a self-titled album. Since both bands used the same studio it was inevitable that they occasionally met during recording sessions. In typical Amon Düül 2 fashion they made peace again, which led to the members of both bands playing on both albums. And one song, "Deutsch Nepal", was liked so much that both bands wanted to have it on their album, and so it happened, although the versions are slightly different.

1) voting all 3....  all seem plausible for that group

2) a.. though I would die a happy man to find Renate did porn... as long as she had speaking parts of course. Her voice gets me as hard as her body might...

3) b

4) b
