Ten debut albums

good list.. only one of those gets a thumbs down from me and even then it is the album I like most from them.

^ Wow, you giving you vote to Genesis... that's something to remember.

Gentle Giant is my choice out of these, and a pretty easy one at that, since I consider it to be one of their top 3 albums, the others being Acquiring The Taste and Octopus. Gentle Giant were at their best when they had soul, and man is the debut just dripping with it.

My vote goes to Yes Yes :-)

Caravan is the only one that is near of Piper´s greatness. Anyway I like all the others except GG.

From the list, I like all of the albums to some extent. I think that I find Gentle Giant's, Pink Floyd's, Camel's and Jethro Tull's most remarkable. I'm thinking about going with Pink Floyd's even though I could very easily go with Gentle Giant's. While I do think that Gentle Giant's shows more musical maturity, complexity and skill, I do believe that Pink Floyd's is a significant Psych Rock/Pop album from 1967, and not just because Pink Floyd became so huge later on. I enjoy the sort-of naivety and youthfulness of it. Nah, I will go with the Gentle Giant -- love the album, and Nothing At All and Why Not? in particular are two of my favourite Gentle Giant songs.

Not really expecting it, but I had been hoping to see Magma's debut on the list (would have got my vote), not because the topic starter is big on them, but because there were very few new topics of the day, but there was a recent Magma poll, and I know that I am sometimes inspired by what other people are putting out and like to add to those topics, and reference them, sometimes with new topics (the idea in my head being a way of building momentum and camaraderie in coordination with others, if that makes sense).

I don´t understand what bilge means as an description of album (looked the word from dictionary, but didn´t make any sense to me). I am big 67 year music fan, but still I think Floyd´s debut is one of the greatest 1967 albums and has really aged in a great way! It´s one of the most personal and experimental albums of that year, really belong into group of two great Hendrix-albums, two great Doors-albums, Sgt. Pepper, Crayola´s first, Disraeli Gears, Velvet Underground & Nico etc.
