Here's some Genesis cuts. Which do you prefer?

**I change the title of this post ,a little. just to clarify the intent. ( Plus I keep getting dragged to the wood shed so I fixed it. Wink)

^ I know, not real obscure , just not the first song you think of on those albums.

It's probably just me, since other than the Colony of Slippermen, I think four of those would be the first song I would think of off the respective albums (maybe I'd think of both Ripples And Entangled before Mad Man Moon). That said, I have rather different tastes to the majority of Prog listeners. Good list of music.

Nice selection, love them all. I favour The Cinema Show with The Colony of Slippermen as a close second.

....I misread the poll title and thought it said 'lesser Genesis songs'. Almost did a 'micky' and spat my drink over the monitor in shock!

Anyway, the poll is a bit more understandable now I read it properly - although as 'Cinema Show' is a band epic and so far ahead of the other, albeit great tracks - and I've played it regularly over the years - my vote was an easy one.

Second etc. is a bit more tricky. Would probably put Fountain, Mad Man Moon, Vine and Colony after that - with Duke's Travels bringing up the rear.

One for the Vine is probably my favorite Genesis song at the moment.

First vote for Salmacis !! My all-out favourite Genesis piece, though all tracks in the list are exceptional.

The Colony of Slippermen > The Fountain of Salmacis > Cinema Show > One for the Vine > Duke's Travels > Mad Man Moon
Two random guys agreed to shake hands. Just Because. They felt like it, you know. It was an agreement of sorts...a random agreement.

Cinema Show far and away as its one of my favourite Genesis tracks, but Salmacis is also pretty enjoyable.

Cinema Show, easily. And as far as I understand, not an obscure Genesis song at all... actually I believe it must be among the more popular ones of the classic era.

Fountain of Salmacis is filled with the kind of "magic" atmosphere or mood that drew me to prog in the first place (and hasn't lost any of it). So it will always be special.

I was gonna say, OP; "LESSER played?! I love most of these tracks!" LOL

Cinema Show all the way! What an amazing piece. Tony Banks shines so hard.

I'll vote for One for the Vine, as it needs the votes, but it's on a par with Cinema Show.
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!
