Genesis is a hard group to play this game with. If you are a fan of the PG and PC led Genesis, the first 10 are from very good to excellent. I tend to play the 3 albums where TB was the leader the most out of the studio albums.

Edit- crap, forgot Genesis put it after Duke

Some people appreciate pop-prog. The poorer classic prog albums in their catalogue don't measure up to pop-prog masterpieces like Invisible Touch.

ATotT and W&W are "poorer classic prog"? OMG, you are not kidding.

Nope. I'd rather have Invisible Touch on a Desert Island than those two albums. And I listen to Invisible Touch more.

As for ATotT and W&W being "poorer classic prog," in my opinion they are poorer than the three great Genesis albums and the best contemporary albums from other artists. I frequently listen to those two albums in particular along with ATTWT as a bedtime albums for when I go to sleep, not for close listening. They aren't exactly masterpieces. They have their moments, but I'm not greatly moved by the music. The lyrics, themes and (lack) of an emotional edge are often terrible. By Invisible Touch, the band settled on their smoldering anger and depression and (Phil Collins) troubles with women thing. The first three albums after Gabriel are like tossing one to the faires or trying to copy Gabriel without any substance. In short, the music is boring. Not to say they aren't good albums, but I'm ranking them against great albums.

I don't rate LLDOB as highly as others but agree with their top five in the video if you replace LLDOB with Foxtrot. So I would have gone:
5) Duke
4) W & W
3) TOTT
2) Foxtrot
1) SEBTP

I kind of understand you. ATotT & W&W havenīt ever been my big favourites, I think theyīre on the same level as Duke, but really I think all those three are better than Invisible (it has some great moments, but also some ugly like the tittle song). More I wonder like Cristi, why Nursery & Trespass are not on your list at all?

I really hope you donīt say them poor classic prog albums.

Nursery and Trespass are albums I don't listen to anymore aside perhaps from the track "The Return of the Giant Hogweed." I had an opinion about Nursery Cryme once but I haven't listened to it all the way through for years so I no longer have an opinion. My tastes have changed since my youth and I don't even listen to Foxtrot or Selling England by the Pound very often. I'm kind of on the look out for new bands these days, without much luck. My last big obsession was with Frank Zappa who I discovered (when he was finally available for streaming)  in 2013. I'm real tired of some of the older prog stuff I used to listen to. I come back time and again for a few of the exceptional albums. Lamb Lies Down on Broadway is important to me, for instance.

Keyboard pop doesn't equate to pop-prog, in my book. And I can't wrap my mind around the last 6 words.

And before people start objecting to my opinionating, "masterpiece" is not an "I just like it" type of word. It suggests a type of objective standard, a discipline mastered. You can easily say it's a "pop masterpiece" because it mastered what there is of pop--to be popular. It sold tons.

From a more prog perspective, Domino is enjoyable, Brazilian is striking, and even Tonight x3 as a type of song that I don't want to turn off as soon as it starts.

As for albums I still listen to, I can't listen to very much classic Genesis very often. Not because it's lacks something--but because I know it too well. My mind just races ahead of the music...patterns well worn into my mind.

Interesting! This play for claiming Genesis "pop-prog" albums as prog masterpieces is as perplexing to me as the fairly recent phenomenon of pushing for the same lofty status for Trespass and From Genesis to Revelation. I just don't get it! It's like elevating Yes and Time and A Word or Supertramp and Indelibly Stamped to equal status with FragileCTTE and Relayer and Crime of the Century, respectively. The potential may be showing but the mastery is nowhere near where it will be. Sometimes I think we confuse the tadpole with the frog, the shadow of the athlete at its peak with the raw talent of its youthful, exuberant self in training. They may be one and the same creatures but they are not producing the same results/products.

Interesting the power that nostalgia has over the aging individual...

^Well, I havenīt heard all Supertramp albums, but to me their first album is lot greater than their next two. I think I have to listen today Crisis? What Crisis? Also I think Time and a Word is as great as the Yes Album & Fragile, those three are my favourite Yes-albums. But not really think Genesis did anything as great after Lamb Lies Down, as Nursery, Foxtrot, Selling and Lamb were, also before Nursery.

I think what we think is greates things in music differs.

I have said before ( ... Barbu will say I'm repeating myself....;)) I don't listen to any Genesis past Wind& Wuthering....and I mostly listen to the 3 classics...Cryme, Foxtrot, SEBTP.
The later ones after Wind with Collins at the helm have good production and recording values but imho the songs simply don;t reflect what Genesis was all about. To call any of those later ones prog classic is simply ludicrous. I will say they have some nice pop rock songs here and there that border on prog....but overall imho they aren't anywhere near as interesting as the earlier true prog material.
One does nothing yet nothing is left undone.
