I got into prog last summer so I am a very new fan. I am 26 year old female.I like mostly the popular classic bands like Yes,Genesis,Crimson,Tull,Camel,Van der Graaf Generator etc..I don't listen to modern/metal prog either except for Steven Wilson. I recently saw Steve Hackett in concert and Carl Palmer. They were great! And my first prog concerts. I look forward to this forum and I am a passionate new fan!

Welcome!
Really great you like those old classic bands, so do I! I think there are some great artists in prog after seventies, but I think 60-70 was the greatest time in progmusic!
And don´t hesitate to ask anything, me and many others will be glad to reply you.

Welcome. There are not many women here, but I happen to be one too, as is my wife who is also on this site. Be sure to check out some Krautrock, like Amon Düül 2, Can, Embryo or Guru Guru. Here an album of each:

A warm welcome - definitely a great place to find out more about modern prog and even extra information on the classic prog bands you already like. Lots of great information on genres, bands and albums on the main site, but the forum is fun too and quite addictive at times. Nice to see younger members like yourself reducing the mean age of the forum - which is probably higher than it should be as a result of old codgers like me!

Thanks for the recommandations! I could see myself getting really into Can. I will be sure to check out the others on your list. Also nice to see some other girls on the site as well.

I have listened to Hemispheres and really enjoyed it but have no listened to other albums for some reason.
You should absolutely listen a Farewell to Kings! It´s almost as great as Hemispheres. The first side of 2112 is also really great, there good songs also in second. Permanent & Moving are quite great too, but in them they´re already started to go more straightforward style (specially in Moving).

you have a lot of classic stuff to discover once you get out of the English same old same old and into what the Germans, French and Italians were doing.. but don't necessarily turn your nose up at modern prog. There really is some great stuff out there. Yeah the mainstream modern prog can suck.. but the underground stuff is really worth exploring. Welcome the site!
