As I commented above, I was there, too!
Sorry I missed your prior.  Any one was able to attend a show at the Fillmore East needs to be paid attend to.

Fyi: I never saw Argent but I did see Lee Michaels at the Fillmore East later in the same year you did (in October).  I bet when you saw him he was still playing organ.  When I saw him he had switched to piano only.  Still a great show.

I prefer The Zombies to Argent.  But then I'm infamous for preferring The Nice to ELP.

Curved Air man... love them.  Don't really get talked about as much as perhaps they should around these parts but that really was a damn good group. Especially with Monkman and Way.

Argent was a great and woefully unrecognized band, but Curved Air was breathtaking.  I voted for Curved Air.  I saw each band live only once, both at the Fillmore East (I got the dates from the show list website, my memory ain't THAT good).  Argent opened for Lee Michaels and The Moody Blues in March of 1970.  I remember really enjoying their set, but I don't remember it in detail since it was so long ago.  Curved Air opened for Edgar Winter's Utter Trash (sorry, fans) and Emerson Lake and Palmer, May 1st 1971.  I didn't see Edgar's set because I was hiding in an upper stairwell where you couldn't hear the racket on stage, but Curved Air's set is etched in my memory.  I can close my eyes and see Sonja in my head.  They blew ELP (I always preferred The Nice, anyway) off the stage.  Based on that one appearance, I classify them among the most electrifying live bands that I've ever seen.  Curved Air's albums, including Live at the BBC, still make my brain melt.  I think I will pop the 1st 3 into the changer now.

^I think Nexus is more interesting than Circus.....but as always it's subjective.
Argent for me...when the first two came out I was in college and they became sentimental favorites....wasn't even aware of Curved Air until a few years later though the Curved Air albums might be  more creative at times.

Argent for me. Most recall their All Together Now album, but Circus from 1975 is an underrated gem.
