Title: AQUACADIA for Retro Prog Rock
Biography: AQUACADIA's music was written by Gary JACOBS (composition, electric guitar, classical guitar, synth programming) and Gregory DAVIS (composition, percussion, vocals, keyboards, bass, guitar) from 1985 to the present, but is being recorded and released slowly primarily in singles format. The duo is a home-grown retro prog rock outfit based in the USA with American and British roots. The music ranges from the classically inspired NIGHTSONG to blues-riff influenced OMEGA, synth-oriented SPACE CADET, and post-punk infused GARGANTUA. Two more songs to finish their first album:
Markings of Time https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ikWr9aEAXXQ Atalantia https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=M6MQlVv1cNQ Great home-brewed prog rock from just two guys composing, recording, performing, and singing every original song. Or, just go to YouTube Aquacadia and TopTracks to hear the entire rundown. Already up to a couple of thousand views for their stuff with virtually zero advertising. The focus is the music. |

noted, thanks
we don't have such a category/subgenre here, leaving aside the fact that it doesn't sound retro overall due to the given electronics not sure yet which team should take this for evaluation ... |

To me it sounds very retro albeit with a little modern twist. Eclectic prog perhaps?

Looked at the progfreak website and have a concern. The song linked to Aquacadia for evaluation is Which Way is Up, which is perhaps their least proggy tune. I hope PA evaluates the more proggy ones off of the album "Into Atalantia" as well, like Atalantia, Nightsong, Markings of Time, Space Cadet, Of the Brave, and Omega. Probably better to link to the address below, or they will likely be tossed out of the running as synthpop. Many of the other songs are not synth focused. For example, Nightsong mainly features classical guitar. Atalantia and Omega have a lot of electric guitar and seem more like Yes, Asia, or Rush. Thank you most kindly.

CD Baby retired their music store in March of 2020 in order to "focus entirely on the tools and services that are most meaningful to musicians today and tomorrow", so the CD Baby full album link given above now redirects to a general info page.
But, as well as the 'Nightsong' track being featured on the Spotify "Medieval Tavern" playlist, the full album can also be found there: https://open.spotify.com/album/7yoQobfoZhQ2G54ioz9OPR. |
