Me? I'd pick VdGG lol but I am not voting since it is my poll

doesn't matter if it's your poll, you can vote and explain if you want to.

Neither band is a favorite of mine, I need a special mood for them. I won't vote against VDGG and I won't vote against KC, so no vote this time.

I saw this poll and my first thought was, "You're kidding, right?" It's like putting Gabriel-era Genesis against Pendragon. Or Yes vs Starcastle.

I love VDGG but against Crimson? No contest really.

The poll says I'm not allowed to vote in it (maybe I'm too much of a n00b on the forums), but holy smokes I prefer King Crimson by a mile. A mile and a half, even. Probably two miles, or three.

You get the picture. Van der Graaf Generator is pretty cool though, much love to the OG progsters.

no contest - VdGG. but I knew the majority would go with KC.

to explain my view: KC has a whole period of albums that are comparatively weak - "Discipline", "Beat", "Three of a Perfect Pair". and some of their latest albums are not up to par either. this is in my opinion not so with VdGG. and this includes their publicly least liked albums "World Record" and "Present", which I consider to be underrated

The Prog Archives say otherwise. They say that album for album VDGG wipes the floor with King Crimson in the 1970s.

Look at their ratings album for album. The only higher rated albums for Crimson are In the Court and Red. VDGG takes everything else in the 1970s. They are a more consistent band. 4 essential masterpieces of prog rock to 3 essential masterpieces of prog rock
