Totally forgot about this one. Sorry. Pilbroch is kind of boring but the title track is great and so is the whistler.

From that list Happy The Man , an often underrated band, though there are several up there I do like.
But of the top ten here at PA on the 1977 list it would have to be Songs From The Wood.

Also: FM's Black Noise was initially released in 1977 (wider distribution came in 1978).

Rain Dances. It suffers by following the brilliant trilogy that preceded it, but it is an amazing album in its own right.
Animals and Wind & Wuthering are also very good.

Two random guys agreed to shake hands. Just Because. They felt like it, you know. It was an agreement of sorts...a random agreement.

Many great albums in this list, I feel like listening to all of them right now. Hard choice between Camel, Pink Floyd, Happy the Man and Genesis, I'll have to vote later.

None of these. Bowie's Low was out in January 1977. I don't remember having played a classic prog album until 2007.

For some reason Rush isn't the first band who pops into my mind when I think of 70's prog. I'm a huge Rush fan and in fact they are probably my second favorite band but for some reason I just don't think of them in the classic prog context.

Oh, f'! Going For the One had all kinds of things going for it (sans its album cover): great songs, great musicianship, and one hell of a tour to promote it. Animules, the current leader here, was primarily the lull after the storm for 'Floyd.
