thanks! I watched another y/t video by the same pair (top 20 prog albums 1990-2020) and they both waxed lyrical about it with no reservations. I only listen to it occasionally, find it quite difficult to get through, not so much emotionally but I feel there needs to be more going on. Its an uncompromising artistic statement for sure but I need more music. |

The shaft of light ("Made Again") in the darkness closing on a suspended chord is not only the best part of Brave, but it's also Marillion's greatest moment EVER!!!

Season's End for me. I wouldn't put anything they did above it.
I was watching a you tube video last night by a couple of prog fans who do a lot of rankings of prog bands (''Sea Of Tranquility'' or something like that). They compared IQ's Road Of Bones to Brave and said that it was undeniably bleak all the way through and didn't 'cop out' like the end of Brave. I had never thought of that but perhaps that is a weakness of Brave? |

Brave is such a snoozefest, Seasons End 100%
I got FEAR on vinyl in 2016 and put it in my top-10 of that year, but barely played it since |

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

Season's End. Brave has some excellent music, but as an album I always found it too long, too same-y, too boring. F.E.A.R. is a good album, but nothing really new or surprising compared to what they've done before.

Agree---I'm into FEAR right now --so voted it---gorgeous album especially the first half---but love most of Hogarth Marillion---Fish era only really love Misplaced when they tried to sound so much like Genesis.

it's got some serious competition in this poll. It is indeed their best album since Marbles.

I’m surprised F.E.A.R. has only got one vote
I think it’s their strongest album but in years. |

This may be the first time we have agreed on anything! Seasons End is Marillion's best album, with Fish or without him.

A mountain isn't far to fall
When you've fallen When you've fallen From the moon Just got my Brave t-shirt from Racket Records in the post today. A snip at £16! An honourable mention for the other two, both of which are superb. |
