Ok, the Sun is shining in my little part of the world and summer feels like its really coming after a long winter.. what's your favourite soundtrack to a long hot summer day and why?
Some examples of mine: Some fusion like Head Hunters by Herbie Hancock or Moroccan roll by Brand X; some mellow Prog like Harvest era Barclay James Harvest or Meddle by Pink Floyd; Future Days by Can; some US west coast Stuff like Grateful Dead or Little Feat..

No particular summer soundtrack - but a few sunny tracks that spring to mind, that bring a summer smile to my face.
Mr Blue Sky - ELO, Shine on Silver Sun - Strawbs, Waiting on a Sunny Day - Bruce Springsteen (but avoid any live versions with a kid in the audience screeching out the chorus!), Overture/Communion With the Sun - Utopia, On the Dunes - Donald Fagen, Summer Song - Joe Satriani, Garden Party - Marillion, Boys of Summer - Don Henley, Nous Sommes du Soleil - Yes, June - Spock's Beard, Then Came the Last Days of May - BOC etc, etc. I think a 'mix tape' is called for! 😎

Prog-wise, Moon Safari is an obvious choice. It makes even the coldest of Winters feel like a nice Summer day. For non-prog, some of The Flaming Lips' albums help me revel in the warmth of the sun.

Caravan - In the Land of Grey and Pink - screams summer...
He neither drank, smoked, nor rode a bicycle. Living frugally, saving his money, he died early, surrounded by greedy relatives. It was a great lesson to me -- John Barrymore

Some excellent selections!!Clap Definitely Caravan, definitely Gong... That often maligned Camel Lp 'Breathless' is very summery. And how could I forget 'Songs from the wood'!! i'd like to add 'Green' and 'Open' by Steve Hillage along with some Hatfield and the north! Oh and 'Pet Sounds' is just the tops on a sunny afternoonSmile

What tracks really thaw you out after a long chilly hibernation (personally as well as seasonally if you get my meaning) and make you feel that warmth in your bones again??

Anything by Caravan or Hatfield puts me in a summer mood.
Also Rubber Soul and Revolver.....not sure why but they do.
