Great albums in this list, making a hard choice which one to vote for. I could vote for any of them and it would be fin with me, so no vote just yet.

Brand X! Brand X! Brand X! Don't settle for any cheap substitutions, only the real thing: Brand X.

Soft Machine, Brand X or Al di Meola, dunno, one of these... today I feel like Elegant Gypsy.

Friede and I will listen to all these albums again. but I am pretty certain "Elegant Gypsy" won't get my vote; too much needless instrumental w**king on it for my taste. an inherent flaw of di Meola's playing, not only on this album. he likes to brag about being fastest hand in the West. less is often more; a lesson he has unfortunately never learned.

I am not too fond of "Spectrum" either. maybe the vote will go to Soft Machine, but we will see.

"Black Market" would in my opinion have been a better contender for Weather Report, by the way. my favorite album of them

All solid fusion albums but for me Mahavishnu is the one I play more often.

Romantic Warrior for me...
He neither drank, smoked, nor rode a bicycle. Living frugally, saving his money, he died early, surrounded by greedy relatives. It was a great lesson to me -- John Barrymore

I can't vote. I love everything up there. Between Cobham, RTF and Brand X, that's nuts. Everything up there is essential, IMO.

I actually voted for Elegant Gypsy for the same reason you won't . Some amazing instrumental passages here ( What can I say, I like the w***king, Wink)

Also, Black Market was the album I was going to put on the list but after reviewing the tracks I went with Heavy Weather. Jaco's Teen Town probably swayed me but both are good albums.

Yeah, Al's conceit is apparent, but everything he released up through Electric Rendezvous is a keeper. Jan Hammer, Philippe Saisse and Anthony Jackson shine on those records.

Third is my fave among these, but Birds of Fire is also incredible. My opinion on Weather Report though is that I like the first album more than Heavy Weather.
