The grand Lizard vs the Island dweller, the Circus tamer vs the Sailor,
I like both for different reasons, both had the ufortinate role to be compared to and seen in the shadows of the looming Greg Lake and the boisterous John Wetton. This is solely on Gordons and Bozs merrit in KC as singers and bass players. Edited by Icarium - July 16 2018 at 05:00 |

KC is probably my favorite prog band....so this is a tough call for me . Haskell....but only because I like Lizard over Islands.

It's a tough one being a huge KC fan, but I would have to go with Boz on this one. I think Islands is underrated, I love Lizard, but mostly for the title track which takes up the entire second side, but Jon Anderson's vocals take up pretty much as much time as Haskell's. I cared the least for Haskell's vocals out of all of KC's vocalists.

Though not remarkable, both did a great job filling the front man's role in KC. Maybe Burrell has a tone that appeals more to me, though Haskell is not far behind.

I really don't care much for either as a singer, and I haven't really payed much attention at their bass playing. However, at least Boz at least doesn't sound like a bad singer to me, while Gordon Haskell was rather bad at it.

Boz for me, I think Gordon is better bass player but like Boz vocals more (although I also think Lizard is greater album than Islands).

Haskell, for both a fitting voice and great bass playing (yeah, I know....Lizard) - but not saying Boz is much weaker really, just my preference.

I love Haskell’s ‘It Is And It Isn’t’ album, with John Wetton on bass. Pure class (in the mellowest, hippie way). And I live Lizard, since 1987. Thanks Fripp and Mellotron, now I love Nile (no relation, just extrenes.......)

Really tough choice. Boz' voice is smoother, Gordon rougher. Cirkus is my 2nd fave Crimson song and when I compare Gordon's studio version with the live Boz versions (Live in Detroit 1971, Live at Jacksonville 1972, Live at Plymouth 1971) it's a tie...both different, both excellent. I'm giving the vote to Gordon though 'cause I think his rough voice vs the beautiful music really makes Cadence & Cascade and of course his crazy laugh after Indoor Games

Haskell, but Boz gets credit for getting up to speed (learning bass) quickly.
Haskell's like wine, while Boz is like beer. Both good in different ways, and equally worthy of respect.

Boz for sure, never did care for Haskells vocals except for lady of the dancing water, but I have to say lizard and islands are both tied as my 2nd favourite KC album.

slight edge to Boz though it's very close. He ultimately wins because Haskell barely sings on side 2 of Lizard, and Happy Family is a travesty. That said, his work on "Cirkus" is better than anything by Boz on Islands.

Boz and his jazz mates have created KC's dark days but he's my love.

Can't choose between them. Neither fully match up to Lake or Wetton, but neither really impare the quality of the bands music, and Lizard is probably my second fave KC album, but can't really vote for best based on singing and bass playing.

Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!
