I do not understand the unmitigated love for TAAB and Passion. This Was and Stand Up are my favorites. I think I would have to give it to GG, though I love them both. By the way, my favorite 2 of GG would be Acquiring and TPATG.

Tull. GG never clicked for me...

He neither drank, smoked, nor rode a bicycle. Living frugally, saving his money, he died early, surrounded by greedy relatives. It was a great lesson to me -- John Barrymore

Both are quite special to me, but Tull gets my vote, though not by much.

Tull has some less than impressive albums, but they also have tom truly outstanding ones well beyond their first four. |

Tull is way easier to listen to--way more accessible ----but probably listen to GG more---so voted both equally because they are my B list Prog bands.

Tull made some great albums (Aqualung, Songs From The Wood), but GG is just way more interesting. Their musicianship may never be surpassed and they went where no other band has gone.
GG for me by some way.

Like so many of the 70's prog bands I discovered at an early stage I seem to have grown out of love with a lot of the music by Jethro Tull that was once quite important to me. Except the odd tune tune any album past they're third or fourth release just doesn't work for me as they once did. Its good music no doubt but the complexity often feels forced to my ears (Heavy Horses a little less so than the others I guess). Benefit is still top notch songwriter-perfection though + full of warmth and atmosphere & I don't understand how anyone enjoying Stand Up can fail to hear just how wonderful it is. But I might just have to give my vote to GG for their first four albums.

I still need to give GG a fair crack of the whip. But the couple of albums I have heard..did not grab me at all. Tull has..

Almost Sophie's choice. But is has to be JT. GG are/were indeed an acquired taste as there sophomore album title states. They had a number of inaccessible tracks over most of their first 7 studio albums, which a number of my friends used to remind me about, but hey most clicked (in my mind) but others definitely didn't. But it was interesting exploration for a teenager/adolescent of the 70s.

Thanks, Yes of course but I took prefer to mean which do you listen most to or enjoy listening to the most and (by only a fraction) I went with JT.
